no no, i bought it new in 2003 its an 2003.5 maybe what i meant to say is that the exhaust sounds diff upon a cold start. i know it idles high normally. anyway, it just sounds off and rough sounding. hard to describe. gonna get an oil change and have them plug it in and see whats going on. thanks

My exhaust sounds deeper on a cold start but quiets down after the warm up phase!

I am not sure if you hearing something unusual but if you car is idle is raised due to the cold start then the exhaust note will be different

The exhaust tone on my last two Gs sounded deeper on cold start-up.
This is normal due to the higher rpm and the car will also be running a bit richer on cold start-up.

It has to do with the variable intake/exhaust and engine timing via the ECU...it has a different program when the engine is cold. You will hear a louder intake sound too.

well i found the culprit. I had an oil change today and as the guy was lifting the car, i noticed a huge tree branch wedged between the exhaust and the frame. I have no idea how it got there but it must have been about 2 inches in dia. and 3 to 4 feet long. im assuming the vibration upon start up was doing it. otherwise the oil change did it. John
