Need some snow tire size help
I ran that size with Bizzaks, not staggered. You'll do fine, I had no real problems aside from poor performance, so I decided to upgrade to Dunlop M3s on stock 18's (same size tires as stock summers) and have been much happier with those.

I went on a rant on another thread how they have sloppy sidewalls and relatively poor preformance on dry for a snow tire. I found some oem 18s on ebay with the dunlops - 225/45/18 and 245/45/18 and they are as good or better in the snow, even given the wider rears, and they are as good on dry as my (balding) 19" potenzas in the summer. Just overall better in every category.
I also bought 225/45/18 all around Dunlop M3s for the wife's RX-8 and her car is like a goddam snowmobile compared to mine...I'm very surprised and quite pleased with the performance considering how light that car is.
And no problems this last week with the foot of snow we got and -35 to -40 temps. Off to Mexico in 2 weeks thank funking god.

I have 17x8 wheels all around for my winter setup.
With the way this winter has been in the NE (more consistent snow fall than previous years, although no big storms yet) I'm happy I decided to buy winter tires this year.

My 17s were Blizzak 225/50/17.
You really don't need to be staggered, buy I do think a 225/55/17 all around would be slightly better in winter for 17s.
Honestly though, I still think my new setup is the best - look at the marketplace and find some cheap OEM 18's - even if they're beat up they'll still look better than ANY aftermarket 17. Throw on some Dunlops (or Blizzaks if you can find a better deal) and you'll have the best all-around looking and performing setup. Period.
