03 coupe owners...

Just a quick question for your thoughts. For people that did the armest upgrade for their 03 coupes, did you guys like it? Was it worth it? Also, how much did you pay for the whole upgrade? I am really thinking about getting it. I don't like the heated seats buttons so far back and I think the leather padded armrest would be comfortable and classy. Any inputs would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have the arm rest. Not really usable to rest your arm but it definitely cleans the interior up. I like where the heated seat buttons are now. I would recommend it. Cant tell if its an 04 or an 03 with it installed.

Love my armrest. With my arm resting there my hand falls on the shift **** perfectly.

Exactly, my elbow rests perfectly on it as I shift on the highway....although, I would say you need to be pretty tall or have long arms to accomplish this, im 6'1 and i just reach the shifter.

Thanks guys. So, do you guys have them installed, or your cars are just 03.5 and newer? If it was upgraded, did you guys get it at your dealers? Thanks again.

Or maybe shorter legs help (seat further forward). I'm 5'7" and the arm rest and (6MT) shifter are perfect for me, but only when I keep my hand on the shifter. Pretty much only my elbow is on the armrest.

Glad I did it. Wouldn't have it any other way. While not as long as some other arm rests, it is usable. BTW, I hope you don't smoke, because you lose the front ashtray. However, you gain one for back seat passangers. The graphite piece that fits around the shifter, had storage in it and flips up with the old console that had an ashtray in it. The current graphite piece has an ashtray in it that flips down, new console has no ashtray. I prefer the old storage piece, and I haven't touched a cigarette in over 20 years.

so lead, it doesn't look like you ever got an answer to your question.
I don't have the armrest and was thinking about the switch myself. I think it can be purchased for 2 hundred and something dollars????? Installation is not that bad from what I hear (rugratcoupe), but you will have the ashtray light to do away with or make it into a cup holder light like rugratcoupe did. Do a search and you will find his post.
Hope this helps,

Chops

Didn't know about the ashtray thing. My '03 coupe (April build) came with the revised console, but there's an ashtray just below the cassette deck. Not that it's ever been used for ashes mind you. Paper money for tolls yes, but not ashes...

Re: 03 coupe owners...

My May '03 coupe came with the armrest and the ashtray under the radio. I simply called up Grubbs and got the parts to swap out the ashtray for the cubby/coin holder box from the early cars. Since I don't smoke, at least it gave me a tiny bit more storage space. Cost = under $20.00...seriously.
