amsoil oil filter?

Anyone used one before?

I'm thinking of using amsoil 0w-20 next change with amsoil filter.
i already bought a k&n filter but i could return it. Is k&n filter good to use or should i get a different one.

also, 0w-20 will be ok for the G too right?

Don't waste your money on the filter, but don't use Fram (been using but heard that the new Fram are not good and filter may breaks inside). I'm not sure how much is Amsoil (too lazy to search right now) but Mobile1 and a decent oil filter is good for me. Check out my sig.

What to do....?

Amsoil oil filter are good filters but I seriously doubt there any better than the
K&N you have. K&N is what I've been using for several years and buy them
on line three at a time so I get free shipping. By using quality filters and
name brand synthetic oil you're taking good car of your G. (I use Red Line)
Oil....stay with 5W/30 that's thin enough even for cold climates....

AMSOIL oil fiters are good, just like K&N, Moblie 1, WIX (I use WIX), or the OEM filter.

Also I would not use 0W20 on a G. Stick with 5W30 if you are NA.

Amsoil filter is about twice the price of other good filters, like Wix - about $16 vs $8 (or less from somewhere like Fleet filter). But I agree, DON'T buy a Fram. NAPA Gold, Nissan, PureOne are all good. Also, you don't need the 0w-20 in Dallas, I'd go with the Amsoil 5W-30 or for the best quality 0W-30 Signature.

More info here

Yes 5 quarts is what you need, carry an extra quart in the trunk if you see your oil getting low before your next change.

With a filter change, I find exactly 5 quarts is perfect.

So Swivel let me ask you your opinion.

K&N filter with 5 quarts of Amsoil 0W-30 Signature should be pretty awesome, right?

I've only used Mobil 1 oil and Mobil 1 filter for the entire 21K on the car.

Don't bother with the Amsoil oil filter... they're very expensive and are just WIX filters sold by Amsoil.

Use either a Purolator PureOne oil filter or a Mobil One filter. Those are the top 2 oil filters for the money that you should be able to regularly find at local auto parts stores. The Mobil 1 filters cost about twice as much as the PureOne filters($12 vs $6), but they are a slightly better filter. If you get one of these filters, get the oversized filter... which for the Mobil-1 filters is the M1-110 oil filter, and for the Purolator PureOne is the PL14610. These filters are a little over a 1/2" longer than the stock sized filter, but have the same other parameters.

I personally always swear by German Castrol 0W30 too for oil. You can pretty much only get that German Castrol oil at Auto-Zone. There's a "special" advertised at Auto-Zone for the next 3 weeks where you can get a Mobil-1 Oil filter and 5 quarts of Castrol Syntec motor oil(this also covers the German Castrol oil) for $35. That's not as good a deal as they usually have when they do this sale, but it's still pretty good if you figure that those oil filters alone usually cost $12... plus, if you couple it with using an Auto Zone rewards card, you're essentially saving money on future purchases there.

It just sucks that the new "Special" that they are having isn't as good as the old ones. A year ago, they used to do the same sale for $26.

partyman - That first sentence is not true, you can buy both Wix and Amsoil filters from Amsoil, but they are not the same filter. The rest of the post is accurate and useful.

lekker - K&N since you have it and 0W-30 Signature is fine; any good-quality oil and filter is fine if you follow the recommended change intervals.

Oh, Amsoil finally started selling their EA oil filters for our car? That's good. Last I'd checked, they didn't offer it yet... but they're still really expensive, especially when shipping costs are added. They're taking forever to expand their EA line of oil and air filters to cover all vehicles.
