newb question

OK,
I am very interested in the g35 coupe
one with leather #1
one with NO SUNROOF #2

I have browsed the inventory of dealers all over the us and the combo of no sun roof but has leather seems extremely rare

can you help a newb understand who chooses what option is included, the factory, the dealer, the consumer?

I ask because when i "build" my g35 at the infiniti site i end up browsing a dealers inventory

When I went to the dealer the impression I got was that after a deposit I would get a first choice at the different version that they would get on routine deliveries

I really think I would buy one if I could get EXACTLY the one I wanted but im afraid I would just be waiting in line for ever

Caribbean Blue
Willow Leather
Auto
NO SUNROOF <- I assume this means no premium package
$32,095.00 <- Or less would like to pay less than MSRP!

Re: newb question

Very true sir...I had the same dilemma back in November, so i ordered a 6spd coupe without sunroof or any options....
Thats why i did a special order, and now i am still waiting for the car to arrive, any week now though!

You want an Auto so it should be much quicker to get. Perhaps it might take 3 months at longest. I had to wait 6 months because the 6MT models have limited production.

If you already have a car right now that gets you by day to day, then just go ahead and order a Coupe with the options that YOU want. While waiting for the coupe to arrive, just save up and make a large down payment

Everyone here seems to say that it was well worth the wait

Re: newb question

Oh yah about the MSRP ordeal...
It seems like alot of people have been able to knock the price down by $400 to $1500. Much easier on the Auto coupe than the 6MT coupe...good luck!

Re: newb question

The sunroof is because of the premium package... Premium package includes..

• Power glass sliding sunroof
• 225-watt Bose® premium audio
system with 8 speakers and
AM/FM/cassette, in-dash,
single-slot 6-disc CD autochanger
• Dual-zone climate control
• Auto on/off headlights
• Electrochromic auto-dimming
inside mirror
• HomeLink® Universal Transceiver

--- and when i talked to some of the dealers... they all mostly said that the coupes tend to always come with premium package.. and most ppl would like leather w. premium or base w. premium... so that would include the sunroof... ure best chance is ordering a base model... without premium... but then you lose all those other accessories that premium has to offer.. personally... I LOVE MY SUNROOF... I use it all the time... but then again its your car.. style it the way you like...

Re: newb question

yeah sunroofs are okay...if it snows everyday like here in Alaska then they arent that useful...plus takes off an inch of headroom. Gotta leave enough room for my eskimo hat

another thing...i know someone who installs them for $500...he probably hasnt worked on a G before, but im sure its all the same cut and same tilt+slide mechanism
<gets ready to be flamed RE this>

Re: newb question

I also wanted the leather with no sunroof, automatic. I had to special order it. I placed the order in January, was told at the time that production wouldn't start until they have enough orders for no sunroof and leather. I don't know if it was dealer b.s. or not but I did get a call last week that the car will be built in April and I should have it by June.

Re: newb question

Your best bet is to special order it.

Rambo... you really live in Alaska?

How many months a year will you get to drive your coupe?

Re: newb question

I think he's kidding guys. By Alaska, he just means the snow belt. Just feels like Alaska sometimes, especially this winter!

Re: newb question

No lol i was joking, if i lived in alaska i'd take 2 pencils and a pencil sharpener, sharpen them really well, hold them on the table facing upwards, and proceed moving my eyes towards the lead.
seriously though, I live in Michigan

Re: newb question

Actually, the only time I've been to Alaska was the summer. It's beautiful, but I sure wouldn't want to be there in January.
