Springs or Coilovers?

Hey, i was talking to a friend and he said that springs will **** up your tires or some ****, and that coilovers are better. I'm not disagreeing with him on that, but the price difference between springs and coilovers and more then double. I was wondering if its really as bad as he says getting springs over coilovers. I'm looking at H tech springs if that matters. vs the tein basic coilovers i guess. Not really sure yet. Thanks.

Springs lower the car a set amount and do not come with shocks, coilovers come with shocks and springs and you can adjust the ride height.

I bought Eibach springs not that long ago, but haven't put them on the car. Decided to get coilovers instead, because with Chicago winters, i'll need to raise the car for the winter months. I can sell you them if you'd like. Brand new

Both springs and coilovers will throw off your cars camber and toe, causing tire wear. Take it to a shop after it settles and have them get it back into specs. for the alignment to be correct you my need camber kits

Springs vs Coilovers

The difference between springs and coilovers is that the coilovers give you
height adjustability. With either you'll need suspension pieces to bring your
alignment back to OEM specs, or go thru a set of tires frequently. It hurts
to look at a set of tires with the inside 1/4 worn out and the rest of the tire
still has 20K left on them....

Tein Basics will drop the car more than most lowering springs will, making it necessary for you to get camber kits all around. And when it comes to performance, Basics are not better than most spring/strut set-ups available...

how low do the eibach springs go? and how much? If i get springs and get a camber kit, get it aligned, and everything into spec, will i be good to go? It's very unlikely that i will be adjusting the height frequently, so that isnt something that is necessary.
I think i'm gonna just go with springs for now. So basically all i would need to keep my tires from shredding up would be to get a camber kit along with the springs correct? and an alignment shortly afterwards.

It all depends on how much money you want to spend and how serious you are about performance.
Are you going to track the car, are you going to want to adjust the height and stiffness of the ride?
I researched the pros and cons of springs vs coilovers for months before I made my decision to get the 350Z htechs for my G coupe.
I just wasn't willing to spend that much money on suspension that I thought was overkill for my needs.
A lot of people remain in OEM spec with the htech springs, whether they are for the G or Z.

I've been lazy and haven't gotten an allignment to find out if my ride is in spec.
The weird thing is a lot of people on the boards say to get an allignment to try and get back into spec but when I talked to a couple shops they said an allignment will not affect the camber that much.

COILOVERS! dont waste your money on the spring set up. save your money and get coilovers. height adjustment is a plus and ride quality is way better.

just go your local muffler shop and let them heat up your stock springs to lower your car

the 3 main purposes for an alignment is camber, caster, and toe-in. id rather check my alignment frequently than buy new tires every few months.
