Is The Swith From a At to a mt really worth it?

I currently have an 03 g35 At coupe and I always have wanted to swap it out for a MT. Id like to hear some opinions on how benefitial this would be. Also if anyone has done this before which im sure many have.... how much does it cost.. how hard is it to install.. and all that..

also if there are and DIY for this that would be interesting to see... all opinions are appreciated.. thanks

Why go through all the trouble just to get the 6MT, it's not like a Supra tranny you know. Just trade in and get the 6MT.

well it has sentimental value as it was passed down to me.. and wit 80 000 miles on it im pretty sure wit the trade in it would be cheaper to go through the hassle.. besides if i get a new tranny i dont have to worrry about how the last owner drove the car..

anddd lastly the car is caribbean blue and the chances that i find a 03-04 caribbean blue 6mt is pretty small lol

It's a ton of money to do. Gurgen had GTM do his and there is one other guy I know who just did one. IMO you are better off selling your car and buying a 6MT. I think Gurgen had ~$6k in his swap, maybe more...

If it makes you feel any better for keeping your auto, of the 6 cars i've owned, the G has the worst manual gearbox. Keep the auto or trade in, don't bother all the money of switching.

He doesnt even have a g35 currently. And he already has so many plans for it.

Is it just me or does this sound wierd? Get the car and drive it stock for a while first please.

Make sure you like the car enough to put any large amount of money into it.

lol... im sure he has gotten many a taste of the G if its his bro's car ... but in all honesty..drive it as is... drive a manual one... see if the diff is worth it to you... If you are planning on spending a tonne on it... you might want to trade off that 80K miles for something w/ 30-40K miles... btw painting your car Caribbean blue does not cost 6K... but that swap will be north of that

Sell it and buy a 6MT. This topic comes up all the time on every single car forum, and there is no logic whatsoever in swapping an auto to a manual tranny in a car that is otherwise stock. Unless you've already dumped several thousand dollars worth of modifications into your current car... you'll be much better off(monetarily speaking) by selling your current car and buying one that is already 6MT from the factory. While you're at it, might as well spend that extra money on getting a newer G35 too... that way you're getting a newer car with less miles and in a 6MT for the same money that you would have spent to turn your older G35 into a 6MT. Plus.... even if you sold your car and bought one of the same year in 6MT, at least the one you bought would come with the awesome Brembo brakes.
