Spoiler install.

I did a search and read the threads on the spoilers for our cars. The cheapest I can find is one that is painted and shipped for 214.00 Its from www.slickcar.com I have not checked Ebay yet, so I will check there as well. but so far the best I can find is from slickcar.

Supposedly all the cars are pre-wired for the spoiler so that isn't going to be an issue, I hope.

no matter wat u do.. do not go to the stealership unless u absolutely have to!!!

and with the resources on this site.. there is so many ppl that can help u wit things if not do it for u themselves.. most of the spoilers come with 3M double sided tape to put it on and im not sure but i think they area pretty basic installation.. the 500 is already way too much for a spoiler and 200 is just stupid considering its one of the more basic installs for our cars

trust me, you do NOT want to this this by yourself unless your experienced! I got a 03-05 spoiler painted and installed (guy came to my house) for $250. I called a local infiniti dealership and they broke the rules, but told me who they get to install the wings. He does all the installs for the dealership. Too bad you arent here in florida, hes a really nice guy!

I say you dont want to do it yourself, because the holes have to be drilled almost perfectly then treated to prevent rusting, and its hard to align the spoiler perfectly on the cars. The guy that installed mine had a template of a trunk and laid that down to drill the holes, and it took him about an hour to get it all done.... but it was done right!

The last two posts are polar opposites...vrez said its pretty straight forward, Night says its not so...nothing against either of you two guys but I'm not sure which one is more correct.

I do know how to use a drill and to follow a template.

what style you going to go with... 03-05, 06-07, aftermarket?

picked my 06-07 factory replica up from ebay about 4 months ago for around $225 shipped, if i recall. installed it in less then 30 min. it was painful to drill in the trunk...but it's not a hard install imo. just triple check your marks before you drill. i couldn't be happier with quality so far. and yes you should be prewired (07s are at least).

obviously one form the dealership is going to be more, but it's factory - not a knock off. if you go ebay or replica, see if you can find one with a paint warranty and make sure it comes with a good template kit to mark your holes.

fishhouse, was the angle tough to drill or just the fact that you're drilling into your trunk that was difficult?

The guy said they have a great template kit, along with the tape and everything you need. He also said there is a site, www.elitespoilers.com that has a clip of the install. It has a warranty as well. Its on another model of car but its the same principle.

Its a full spoiler, not the lip one.

yea 03-05 factory style...you should be able to get one of those even cheaper then mine.

drill angle was fine - nothing weird. by "painful" i simply meant the fact that i was poking holes in my brand new G35's hood not 100% sure what the heck i was doing.

however on the 07s (not sure about 04) the inside of the trunk lid is actually a double layer of metal with hollow space in between the layers. so you actually have to drill one hole for the bolt in the top part of the trunk BUT another larger hole so that the head of the bolt can fit though it and then be able reach the other hole. i needed a big .5" drill bit for that.

probably not explaining that right but you'll see what i mean if yours is like that too.

No I understand, I do know there are supports and such in there, but even if you're not talking about those I have an idea of what you're saying. I do some drilling and such on airplanes, so its not something I'vd not done before.

I say its a pain in the butt and being the conservative I am...

Unless you got a steady hand (or like to do that kind of stuff tinkerin and such) or friends to help which is always nice...

I dunno tho the price difference is pretty substantial...

I say go with your gut lol

kao1, I went to the Ebay page, it states that the cost is 110.00 painted and shipped. The seller has a 96% rating with almost 6 thousand sells.

I am really thinking of using this guy, thanks for the tip.
