I was washing and detailing my car last night and my boyfriend noticed something and said, "What happened to your valve stem caps?" And I was like, "What?" I can't believe that people would steal even these things and they only took 2, they left the other 2 on my passenger side. Ridiculous!

were they chrome valve stems or the plain plastic type? if they only took two, then either they took them for their bike or only took two because someone was nearby and got scared. but, if you have the plastic ones, that's pretty sad. the chrome valve stems ALWAYS get stolen by kids.

yeah, I had chrome caps on and they stole them a while back. So I just put the regular black ones on now. Sucks.

they do sell the chrome valve stems with anti-theft features which require a key to open. i think afropuff has them, if i'm correct.

 

Somebody stole mine off the passenger side of the car too. I'm definitely going to tighten down my next set.

As someone said, it's probably just some kids...

Thanks, at least I feel a little better. Just can't believe people would steal something so stupid/cheap.

Z2G: They are the chrome/silver valve stems that came with the car. Yeah, I am in Philly, but I keep my car garaged and when I drive it, I either can see it all the time, or go to places in the suburbs (way outside of Philly). I haven't left it in any bad areas. Philly's got some great restaurants and I love eating out in Manayunk too. What is afropuff, as I have never heard this name? Can you order online?

OMYGRIDE: I live in the Germantown/East Falls area. Sure, I love racing! The adrenaline rush my car gives me when I take off is almost as good as s_x.

I called the Ardmore parts department and they are $3 for each valve stem. Yes, I think that is too much for one little thing, but at the same time, it is only $3 which still isn't that much money although it would buy me an ice cream cone at my favorite place in the city. =) Oh well, I am probably going to get them and maybe even the rubber ones. Who knows, not a top priority.

afropuff is another forum member. here's a link to where you can purchase the locking valve stems. but try shopping around because i'm not sure if this is the best price out there and i'm sure you can probably get them cheaper. make sure you select the "locking" caps which are an extra $20.
