Re: auto locking

no they can not be programmed to auto lock. but you can get a window mod from www.kptechnologies.net that will allow you to put your windows up via the OEM Remote and it will also auto lock your doors. let me know if you have anymore questions.

The dealer can help you program the your car to lock automatically. Give your dealer a call.

Re: auto locking

I've never heard of a G that could be dealer programmed to auto lock. It's not listed in the BCM options...

Re: auto locking

I read the installation instructions on the Web site. Is it true that all of the connections are in the door?

I found the other super long thread and read some answers to my questions. Does this module still only lock the doors, but not unlock them?

I have another product in my CR-V to lock and unlock its doors. I know that door locking is secondary on this product since rolling up the windows was the original purpose, but is there some reason unlocking the doors is so difficult? The product in my CR-V is the Autoloc IS1000. It is supposed to work in all vehicles. The only reason I haven't put one in my G is that I am leary about probing wires. It appears that all the wires for the door locking are in the door so I wouldn't be near any airbag wires as long as I used the wires attached to the door lock switch.

This is the URL to the product I am referring to:
http://www.autoloc.com/detail.lasso?itemid=IS1000

Thanks,
Greg

yes it is true all the connections are in the door and its a relatively simple install.

yes it only locks the doors. to make it un lock would require too more wires and a bigger chip. kvin did not feel the need to make it unlock cause if you have a coupe the doors unlock when you pull the handle the door will still open. this however is not the case for the sedan.

Re: auto locking

Daniel, Thanks for the response. I didn't have my coupe with me so I couldn't check to see that my doors do unlock with the regular handle. I can see why adding an unlock feature would kind of be a waste of time.
It's kind of funny that the actual purpose of Kevin's part, to raise the windows, means nothing to me. I rarely lower the windows unless I am parking in a garage and need to get a ticket or pay the attendant. I do want to have auto locking though as that is a priority to me.

Re: auto locking

Get the Infiniti Security system upgrade module... One of it's added features is the ability to auto lock the doors. The alarm will now arm on it's own and lock the doors when I walk away from my car. Once inside and I start the car it also locks me in the cabin, which is a nice feature when u live in NYC

Re: auto locking

Daniel is close, but not 100% correct on his reply. To add remote down capability I would need two more wires. To add autounlocking you would only need one more wire, but you wouldn't be able to hook the yellow wire up to the RAP system. It would have to be hooked to a true ignition source so that the module knows when to unlock the doors. There is NO true ignition source inside the door, and it is impractical to run wires into the cabin from the doors, due to molex styled plugs. If you would have read the ENTIRE thread (haha) you would know that this project was developed so that I could roll my windows up with an aftermarket alarm without actually running wires through the door plugs. The original design started with this window module, and then there was going to be a second control module that would interface an aftermarket alarm with the factory transmitter. The factory transmitter would have been permanently mounted under the dash.

Once I got the window module done I decided I didn't really need to go any farther and the project stopped there!

Sometime in the future I am planning on adding window down capability, so that you can push two buttons and lower the windows, instead of holding the button. Don't look for this anytime soon though!

Re: auto locking

I called my Infiniti dealer about the security system module and they claim it doesn't do the auto locking on coupes. NYCXLR8 you have a coupe so it sounds like they don't know what they are talking about. I looked for the module at Grubbs, Infiniti.com, and everythingg35.com and couldn't find it. Did you buy yours from your dealer when you bought the car or later? Do you have a cost you could share? It wouldn't be the first time a dealership didn't know what they sold, but I would like to find some info on the part before I order and buy it. I can't figure out why Infiniti doesn't have this info eaiser to find on their site.

Re: auto locking

Nissan/Infiniti doesn't actually make an add on security system. What he was most likely referring to is an aftermarket alarm installed by the dealer, and therefore covered by the factory warrenty. I believe the alarm that most Nissan/Infiniti dealers install is an Automate. Automate is made by DEI, who also makes Viper, Python, Clifford, Sidewinder, etc....

The Automate alarms I have worked with are very nice, and I've heard good things about them being installed by the dealer, except for the outragious price they charge. For the amount that I have heard some dealers charging you could have a top of the line, 2 way LCD remote, with remote start installed by a shop that offers a lifetime warrenty (a dealer charged a guy with a 350Z $600 for the alarm and install)
