Shift Kit, LSD Questions help Please
Hey, Kind of new to the whole car world, just picked up an 04 G35 Auto with twin Turbos, and all that, was recommended to get a Valve Body Upgrade, and a shift kit, checked all over google for a shift kit which I couldn't find do they even exist for this car? Also is an LSD kind of the same thing as a shift kit? Any help would be greatly apprietiated. Thanks a lot! -Max
have no idea what a shift kit is but if you have an auto TT and want to really use the TT then you better upgrade the Valve bodies, get some grounding wires, and try to get some upgraded clutch packs (think thats what they are) or your not gonna have that tranny in there for long and sinice its an 04, i bet its been driving hard
I think "shift kit" is a fairly generic term used to indicate upgrades to the valve body in the transmission.
An LSD = Limited Slip Differential...is at the other end of the driveshaft from the transmission, it's the rear differential. The main difference with the one you have vs. stock is the LSD is designed to spin both tires vs. the "one tire fire" from an open differential

That is the easiest way to indicate if you have an LSD or not. But all the LSD really does is "Limit Slip". So in an Open Differential, you take a turn, and your inside wheel is spinning faster than the outside wheel. But the inside wheel travels less distance, so it starts spinning.
But in an LSD, the differential adjusts the speed at which the inside wheel is spinning because it covers a shorter distance, thus limiting the slip if that wheel.
The valve body upgrade IS a shift kit. I had one done on my last car and it drove 10x better. I didn't have a very harsh setting, but having it saved slip between gear changes and in turn longevity of the transmission life. And all this is done by making the shifts quicker. You can get valve bodies tuned differently before they put it in. Almost any reputable transmission shop will know what you are talking about. I think Level 10 performance in New Jersey has a full swap for our cars. You buy their transmission, then send them yours once you swap it out (I think thats how they work).
Level 10

All you need is the PTS hydro system. Unless you're thinking of tuning out some serious numbers.
