Re: For those with Kinetix Plenum...

i read this thread.. that must've been freakin' scary.. realli good thing that it did break when it did, cause if it was during that turn, that would have been realli dangerous..

either way, i was one of the people who were interested in the kinetix plenum, but i was convinced by a buddy of mine to hold off on it cause of how untested it realli is.. good thing i didn't buy it.. well, it is also noteworthy to point out that i wouldn't have continued driving with a cracked plenum like wren57 did..

I'm not convinced this was a problem due to poor craftsmanship. I am still leaning toward the idea that people are too stupid to tighten the damn thing using the proper specs.

...then why aren't the Crawfords doing the same thing? Given the % of the market they have, you'd assume there'd at least be a few stories floating around out there.

Geo because if im not mistaken, the Kinetix is still a plastic plenum after all, which mean is a lot easier or the easiest to crack if being over torqued. Ive never heard of something with a strong metal cracking from over torquing, maybe just bending. Am I wrong? I also want the kinetix for the price and close performance gains of the crawford. i might be drawn away from this also now, hmm! Martin

From the looks of the pics it doesnt look like a over torqued problem. Also they have come out with four versions. There has to be a reason for that. I was just about to bid on one thats on ebay. I think Ill pass.

I was about to say-- check out the pics of the problem. One would assume that a problem with the bolts would have a crack pattern that emanates from them, rather than one that is just in the middle of the plenum. At the very least, if the plenum was stressed by the forces caused by the torqued bolts, too, you'd think it would be on a plane of stress across the top... but I could be 100% wrong.

Re: For those with Kinetix Plenum...

I remember some older posts about the cracking problem originating from the mounting holes, not randomly (such as across the top).

Re: For those with Kinetix Plenum...

I have the V3 and it's Great! I think i'm going to contact them and see if they will send me out the V4 or what I have to do and see how much better it will be.

I haven't had a single problem with the V3 and have had it for about 3 1/2 months now.

Before my exhaust, it had an awesome growl to it w/ the Z-tube and JWT Pop Charger, and now with the exhaust, it screams!!

I'm sure Crawford is a good product, but I like Kinetix a lot. I also like that I can keep my stock plenum and pay less. I have their Race Pipes w/ Resonators and not one problem with them as well.
