Warranty and upgrading a G35 Coupe
Warranty and upgrading a G35 Coupe
My question is what can you do to a G35 while under powertrain warranty from dealership? And also what can you do to a car when you have a COMPREHENSIVE aftermarket warranty like Zurich? Has anybody gotten around this supping up their cars or upgrading them?

quit being a ***** and mod your car, the warranty will fix problems for the manufacturer not your mods (obviously) so just mod man, search around to see what mods people have done and decide if those mods are for you. If the warranty status means a lot more to you then don't mod the car. Plenty of people have modded their cars while under warranty
Most Mods should not affect your Warranty. If you do engine mods, and your living in CA, then you need to be aware of the C.A.R.B. [Cal Air Resources Board} requirements.
Some after market mfgr's like JWT and Vortech have C.A.R.B. approved products. So, modding in CA you just gotta check or pay later...
Engine mods, sure that will effect Warranty but suspension, tires/wheels CAT back exhaust and stickers should not.
I don't know about other states requirements so just check and make sure that you're legal. (If you want too.)..
Happy Moding !!.

All warranty still applies. The only way a warranty claim can be denied because of the mod is if the mod was the cause of the problem. Every now and again you may run into a douche at the dealer who will blame it on the mod but I havent had any problems.
Now speaking from the other side of the service desk, I have been a service advisor before and ran into this situation many a time. I used to work at a Honda dealer so you can imagine the things that I have seen. Every now and again you will get a modified car come in looking for service and you will have customers who play dumb. Some people mod their cars and it ends up causing some type of damage and they put the stock parts back in thinking it will fool us. IT DOES NOT. There are always ways to tell. You are dealing with guys who look at the same type of vehicle day in and day out and know when things look out of place. So don't try that.
We also get customers who mod their cars and the mod causes damage. However, the customer does not comprehend how such a thing can happen. Let me explain, a customer installed an aftermarket alarm system in his car but everything was wired improperly. They tapped the IAC sensor for power for some reason and the vehicle began surging. It also ended up shorting the fuse box later on. The customer couldn't comprehend why he should be paying for repair since the vehicle was so new. Sorry, warranty doesnt cover damage caused by mods.
Just mod the car but be aware of what you are doing and what the consequences may be. If you're willing to take responsibility for it then just trust that human beings are honest and you will be given the coverage you deserve.
