SloG35- are you planning on trading in the Cobra and getting the G35? I would recommend holding on to it because they are two different cars. Can you get both?

The G35 is a beautiful car, very refined, more technology and luxury than the Cobra. However, the power difference is huge especially if your cobra is pullied. You will be going through withdrawl if you trade in.

Kevin, how do you like the Procharger, got any pics? Do you need to get higher rpms to get max boost? Does it come with an aftercooler, because that will help you out a lot with the additional heat. Another thing that makes a big difference is the timing. The pistons are also the weakest point of the Cobra. Ford didn't want to spend the additional $200 dollars for better pistons.

It is a centrifugal supercharger so boost does increase with RPM. The Procharger and the Vortech both come with intercoolers. My timing had been tweaked by technosquare, as long as my fuel maps and other good stuff.

Believe it or not, I don't have any pics of it! However, there is a pic of my engine on my350z.com that someone took at a local meet:

It's a little ways down, and the only supercharged car on the page. It looks beautiful!

Re: trans am/ mustange cobra range?

Actually I wish I could have both, but with my spending the past couple years, I can only own one. I will be trading the cobra in with a little negative equity. The bike is getting sold to get my payments down a little. However, by end of year, I will probably be on another bike. I know the power will be dissapointing, but, all I keep thinking of is the comfort, style, and yes, looks - I have always thought the G35 looked really good. I have had many "hopped" up cars and feel its time to get into something that will head me towards the luxury part of cars. I figured, there was no "newer" car in my price range that could compete in straight line as the cobra, but other than that, i dont think any other car can compete with the g35 in its own class. I can always get another bike before end of year if I want to go fast in a straight line (or even in the twisties). But damn, I got a lot of homework to do on this car. Wheel fitments, mods, things to look out for, etc.
Sorry for the thread hijack.

Re: trans am/ mustange cobra range?

Just to throw in my .02, my girlfriend has a 96 cobra convertable (I am very glad they are heaiver) with just a K&N ( I am not putting anymore than that of my cash into it) and hers wins in the 1/4 mile against my stock 6mt due to gearing. We are side by side until the G has to shift out of second and the cobra is still pulling hard in second(damn v8 tq), then it jumps out a half car or more depending on shift speed. After that the G35 cant make up the diff. Trust me I have tried swapping drivers in both cars same results evertime.

The good news is the G35 wins from a 70mph roll and every other catagory. We drive the cobra for three reasons 1.To drop the top in good weather 2.Long milage trips. 3.Going shopping to avoid door dings.

I do know that it would be much diff. if it was a coupe or the newer sc model.
