Got my first ticket ever yesterday.

Never even been pulled over before I got my G but in the month I've had it I've been pulled over for speeding twice! First was a warning and yesterday I got a ticket for 80 in a 65 (actually 84 but the cop took it down a bit). This car is too easy to speed in... time to get a V1 I guess. My question is, for those of you with them, how is the range? Would I have been able to get early enough warning of the cop if I was bearing down the highway at 85?

Re: Got my first ticket ever yesterday.

Just once huh? That's pretty good, I couldn't even count the amount of times I've been pulled over. My most recent was last weekend going 90 in a 65 in a rental while visiting Dallas....got lucky on that one since I was headed to the airport.

The V1 is awesome, and well worth the investment. I went from getting pulled over at least 4-5 times per year w/ 1-3 tickets......to not getting a ticket since getting the V1. Its been 2 years so far.

The range is good, but you really have to be careful with "instant-on" radar guns.

The V1 is simply amazing. I promise you won't be disappointed. To answer the question of whether or not you would've got a warning, I guess that depends on a lot of things. Were you coming over a hill (that would reduce the range)? Were there any other cars or signs around (those are good reflectors of radar, which increases your chances of picking up a reflection of radar)? Also, if he got you with instant-on, and there weren't any other cars ahead of you to get instant-on'ed (so that the V1 could pick that up), you were pretty much screwed from the beginning. Last time I drove from Dallas to Lubbock, TX, I got a 5 mile warning of a State Trooper from the V1. Definitely worth the investment.

I too have a V1 and I swear by it. I would not have a license right now if it were not for the V1. I just sent mines in that I have had for 3 years to V1 reseach to get upgraded to the latest one for 185.00. It a really good investment.

Re: Got my first ticket ever yesterday.

I don't have one yet, but my buddy does and here's a little story for ya:

We went clubbing one night with a group of friends and several of them drank quite a bit. I ended up having to drive one of them home in their car, and my buddy w/v1 had to follow me since he was my ride. I was in the lead because my drunk friend had to give me directions to her place. My buddy was right behind me. We were going 80mph.

I would look in the rear view mirror every minute or so to make sure my friend was right behind me. One time that I looked, he had dropped way behind. Then later, he would be right behind me.

Once we got to our friend's place, I asked my buddy why he dropped back so much, and he told me that his radar detector went off. We later discovered that another friend (who was five minutes behind us) got pulled over right around the area that my friend's v1 went off.

I got to get me one of those .

I know what you mean, it's soooooo easy to forget how fast you're going. Hah, i've never had a ticket in my life so far(21), but my dad keeps threatening saying if i get one ticket in my car he's selling it....that's a far better speed control enducement than a V1 is, hehe

Re: Got my first ticket ever yesterday.

At least a month ago, caranddriver.com had a an article on-line about testing several radar detectors, including the V1. Take time to read it if it's still there (do a search for "radar detectors" on the site - should take you right to the article). The V1 website does a nice job explaining it's advantages, too.
I've had mine since I've had the car (2 weeks). Haven't been in a situation yet where it's "saved" me, but I know it will soon.
