gas cover won't lock

Hey can anybody put some inputs please...... Just realize it like an hour ago my gas cover won't lock anymore. I filled my tank then notice that the gas cover will open even though my car is lock/unlock. My friend just bought same year 04 and ask me how to open the gas tank so i said just push it and it will pop out, but he said it won't until he press the unlock button from the FOB. So just wondering what wrong with it? thanks in advance

So you're saying that even when your G is locked the gas door isn't? If this is the case the wiring/switch must be jacked, take it in to Infiniti that's covered by warranty. If you don't have a warranty have Nissan look at it, there cost is half of what Infiniti charges....

I had the same problem. Gas door some times won't lock even though the car was locked, had the dealership look at it, and apparently everything was fine.

The culprit was the plastic gas cap holder. When it was secured in place, at times it would bend and rest against the hinge for the gas door. So every time I fill up, I make sure to push the plastic line towards the inside of the car so it rests neatly against the cap itself. Result: My gas door/cover works perfectly fine now.

Also, our cars have a metallic locking switch that prevents tampering of the gas tank when locked. When your car is locked, the metallic bar is extended into the gas cover, preventing prying open of the gas door. So when your car is locked, you cannot open the gas cover and would require you to unlock your door.

that solenoid sometimes sticks. I use corrosion block (a lite non-conductive lubricant) on the the rod and that frees it up.
