Question MT Coupe dies while coasting after WOT

So, I’ve encountered a problem with my 2003 6-speed G35 coupe.

When I hit WOT in 3rd or 4th gear and put the car into Neutral let it coast the RPM’s fall below idle and the car shuts off. Any ideas what may be causing this???

My G has Injen cold air intake, TiTek test pipes, HKS exhaust, PowerLab plenum spacer, and an Osiris custom dyno tune.

Thanks!

It's a common problem with our cars and CAIs. I cleaned my MAF and I haven't had any issues since the one and only time this happened to me.

Interesting...I found this online too, I might try to convert it back to a short ram or something else...and clean the MAF...

"Pop Charger or short ram intake (SRI). Mostly for the glorious sound it makes at high RPMs. Realistically, you are better off with a paper filter in the stock airbox for engine longevity. Did I mention the SRIs look nice, too? DO NOT get a long tube intake (Injen, Nismo R, etc.) unless you only drive in dry weather. They are snorkels that will suck up standing water and hydrolock your engine. The horsepower gain of a long tube versus the SRI is small and not really worth the risk. Note: the JWT Pop Charger may cause your engine to stall if you are coasting in neutral at high speed." http://350zmotorsports.wordpress.com...ning-the-350z/

Thanks for chiming in! I’d love to hear more input from other members.

FWIW I have the Stillen Intake on my Sedan. It's the only intake I've had, but none the less, still had this issue once.

So, this problem might be with just about any aftermarket intake...I'll look into cleaning the MAF first, then if that doesn't work try the stock intake box. Anyone else?

Many Injen intakes have that problem..

just sell it and get an rev up air box instead

+1.. I never put my gear in neutral unless I am coming to a complete dead stop.
