Just finished reading the comparison between the G35C and the RX-8 in the latest R&T. In the article, the author describes the G35C as having instantaneous, tire-spinning torque. Unfortunately, in my experience, from a 5 mph or less roll, when floor it, I may get a little squeal or chirp, but certainly not full-blown tire smoking fun. I've always attributed this to somewhat sluggish throttle reponse. The only mods that I have on my 6MT is the z-tube and a K&N drop in panel filter.
Anyone else have a similar experience? Anyone figure out a way to improve the time between flooring the gas and actual engine response?

Turn OFF the VDC...When I shift from 1st to 2nd under hard acceleratino with VDC off my tires SPIN...Not a chirp, I chirp from 2nd-3rd under hard acceleration...With VDC on the car feels like a slob when I drive hard...

I forgot to mention that my efforts heretofore have been with VDC off. If I rev the engine and drop the clutch, I have no problem spinning the tires. Of course, my 1-2 shift has never resulted in tirespin, only a chirp, so I am curious as to how you were able to do that. Perhaps my tires are underinflated resulting in too much contact patch and grip...

Hit second harder!!!!! Shift faster!!! It's all in the timing!! I have no trouble spinning 2nd and getting a nice chirp into 3rd. Some guys have reported chirps into 4th, but to be honest...I can't see it on a stock coupe! It's fast, but not that fast!
Drive in first gear hard, take it to within a few hundred RPM's of redline and slam that S&$% home! As soon as you depress the clutch, slam it into second and get on the gas!!!! You WILL spin!!!

do u know what power shifting is? Let off about half throttle when u shift... then throw it into 2nd quick and pop out the clutch.. this is really bad for ur car and i would only do it if i was tracking my car or racing for money personally.... but that will get the tires spinning into 2nd... and btw... i have chirped into 4th on my car adn so did my dad. That was when i first got it... brand new clutch and everything so it may not do it anymore... i havent really tryed

if you shift a bit low and very fast, you dont even have to let off the gas at all. i wouldnt recommend this of course, but i had a mustang when i was a kid and would beat the crap out of it shifting like this.

Most of the time, if I am in first gear rolling at 5-10 mph and drop the hammer the back end gets squirly. No the car won't just start spinning the tires into smoke, but they are fighting very hard for traction. If you cant get the back tires spinning hard enough to cause the vdc to kick in going into second gear, you need to practice

I believe I understand the problem. I am not abusing my transmission properly
I have been driving stickshift since I was 16 years old. My first car was a 4 spd Datson 260Z. Blew the clutch out 3 times in one year. My most recent car prior to the G was a 1998 Maxima SE 5 spd, and I could light up the tires on that car with no problems whatsoever. From a 5 mph roll, if you stomped on it, the tires would just spin and spin... I think I prefer cable throttle to drive by wire.

I can actually get the 1-2 shift to not only spin, but to full on fishtail as I'm hitting it. Must be all in the timing...
