To those who bought an ext. warranty recently

My coupe will be running out of the original 3-year warranty in August. I plan on keeping it around for another couple of years. In this respect, I'm considering an extended warranty.

For those of you who bought it recently, how much did you pay and what kind of coverage did you get for the money?

Do I have to buy it before my current warranty expires?

Is it a good idea to buy an EW from the dealer I take my car to?

Thanks!

I got a deal for 4 years/40,000 miles for around $1600. Zero deductible.
It's easier to get the extension of warranty when the car is still under warranty. Some dealerships do not sell the extension if the car has been beyond a certain time or mileage.
You don't need to buy it from a particular dealer. Any dealer you buy it from will add the info to your car's VIN in the Infiniti system and you can take the car to any dealer for repairsthen.

Thanks for the response!

1. By saying "a deal", did you imply that you had to negotiate or to catch a good offer?

2. Buying an extended warranty from a dealer is pretty straightforward. What I'm wondering about is an option of buying EW from some place that is not affiliated with Infiniti. My gut feeling tells me that I would not want to deal with claims. It is probably much more of a hassle than buying it from an Infiniti dealer, and it is not worth the possible money savings.

I bought a used G35 Sedan and they had a book which told them the pricing they needed to charge and it depended about the deductible. So if you do go and get a price make sure you see if for your self in there book they have.

My advice would be to stay clear of any 3rd party warranties. The Infiniti Elite for 4 years 48,000 miles cost me $1375 with Zero deductable. I first took it out after 4 years of ownership. My car was out of the bumper to bumper warranty over a year. My car had extremely low miles (23,000 miles) and there was no problem getting it. It is quite comprehensive, covers everything except trim. By the way, they can charge you $75 for the preinspection. I had that charged waived.
