Bought a 2005 6MT coupe and 2 months later get a new V35
So i bought a 2005 G35 6MT coupe from Downey Nissan in May and it was a clean car that i couldn't pass up. Black on Black, dropped, immaculant. So i noticed within 800 miles my oil light comes on. And thanks to this forum i learned about the OC problem. luckily the car was still under the powertrain warranty. So i took it to Cerritos Infiniti and the Service manager already knew what was up, she ordered the Oil Consumption test and said to come back 1000 miles later. This past tuesday i was at 900 miles and already my dipstick was not registering any oil. I called her up and she said "come down asap and i'll provide you a loaner car." Tomorrow (3days later) i will be reunited with my beloved G and her new VQ35 motor! just wanted to share my success story with Cerritos Infiniti. And they didn't even give me any hassels for the mods. Has a plenum spacer, aem intake, polished intake manifold, and pulleys, as well as a stillen exhaust.

Wow - 900 miles and already not registering on the dipstick, that is crazy. I mean I'm well aware of the revup TSB, but still that shocks me every time I read about this. I always say people scared of buying used rev-ups are silly. By a used car, possibly get a new engine, how can you beat that.
Loving the new VQ motor so far. I got the car back and drove it to Vegas from LA to help break it in. I drove it really easy and the motor sounds sooo much smoother and did a lot better on gas than my old motor. I drove 270 miles and only half a tank was used.
how come they give you an entire now motor and not just fix tha problem.. unless its the entire motor that is the problem? not fair i want a new motor! my shiet rattles - nissan give me a new motor!!!!

The TSB for oil consumption is a replacement of the short block only.
The only thing I'd be careful of here is that during the break-in period for a new engine it's best to vary the revs. Highway driving is not the best for that, with the rpms not varying much for extended periods.
