dumb question but i need to know!
I removed my G35 badge and had planned to do the Infiniti one as well, but noticed I could see a ghost outline of the G35 that I removed, even after washing, waxing and buffing.
mild compound
Debadging Process....again!
There has to be more threads about DEBADGING than any other subject! From what I've read so far most of you are going to do more damage than good....screw drivers, nail polish, compound or hairdryers....WRONG!
The Process:
1. fishing line or floss
2. GooGone for removal of any glue residue left on lid.
3. ScratchX with a applicator pad to remove any shadows.
4. Now throw a few coats of wax on the lid.
Now you've DEBADGED for a cleaner look, it's up to you how much to remove.

Info just from personal experience. How you do it is your preference.
The hairdryer is to warm the glue which makes it easier to remove with the floss... the mild compound was for the shadows on the paint as scratch stuff didn't work for me... a mild compound and a porter cable will finish the job very clean.

Shawn, a hairdryer is only required if you do this process and live in the frozen north in the dead of winter. Fishing line will remove the letters even then without the heat. I've used compound (very fine) on dark colors and it creates more scratches, like we need that with our soft clear coat. Had you used the ScratchX with the porter cable the results would have been better without scratches....

) and no it wasnt very warm when I did it, hence the hair dryer.
So, I dont know if you guys have AutoZones nearby or not, but I bought a spray can (I dont remember who makes it) of badging and decal remover. That worked just fine. Then I took a claybar to it afterwards. Came out perfect. WAAALAAA. Magic! Just dont take all the badging off, I already had 3 people come up to me asking what it was. ITS 5 YEARS OLD, WHO DOESNT KNOW WHAT A G35 IS?
