Synthetic and G 35

Do you recommend using synthetic oil on my G 35 coupe? Would you be kind enough to explain what the advantages of synthetic oils are?
Does the synthetic last longer and does it mean I will be changing my oil at 7000-8000 miles intervals or still have to do 3000 or so?
I apologize if my question is silly and if it has been covered before.
Thanks.

I will be switching to synthetic after the first 2-3 oil changes.

My advice is, get synthetic, a good synthetic that you've researched and meets the needs of your car, your climate, and your driving conditions. Second, if you're putting synthetic in to save money or to reduce the oil change intervals, then just forget about it and stick with the mineral based and follow the recommended intervals.

winw...why forget about syn if you want to reduce the oil change interval, I thought that was the main attracting point of syn over conventional oils. the recommended interval for severe duty is 3.75k and 7.5k for normal useage with conventional oil. But if we were to use syn at 5 to 7.5k intervals we are still within the factory recommended oil change intervals but gain the added protection and life of the synthetic oil. It's a matter of convienence to many of us, not as a cost saving measure since it cost 4x as much. I've decided I'm going to do 5k intervals with mobil 1 10w30, that way if miss a change by a few hundred miles I'm still within the factory recommendation and won't void the factory warranty.

I would still change the filter at the recommended interval then top off the oil to the factory spec. Just because the oil/additive package can withstand extended intervals doesn't mean the filter will provide adequate filtering throughout the extended service cycle. When a filter gets 'clogged,' most if not all of the oil is shunted through the bypass valve, mitigating any advantage of using synthetic in the first place. Just my $.02
