violent tremors when braking.
no, not me - the car. 2003 G35 coupe new to me.
Summary:
Bad vibration when braking at high speeds. seems to get worse as the pads get warmer.
Full story:
I bought this car about 3 mos ago and noticed a vibration in the peddle when braking at any speeds during the test drive. I bought the car anyway and immediately took all 4 rotors and had them turned - problem solved.
Flash forward 2 mos later and I'm driving down the road and all of a sudden my brakes sound HORRIBLE. Get out and notice that three out of 5 lugs are missing from my back passenger wheel. Got that fixed but ever since my brakes are horrible at high speeds. I replaced that rotor all together thinking it got warped but that almost made the problem worse. Is the caliper bad maybe? Pads looked good when replacing rotor. Help!

Ok here is the thing. If you had your rotors turned because they were that bad then the pads must have been in bad shape to. Not saying there was not a lot left on them but if one is gettinf messed up then most of the time it effects the other/
slight update
Well tonight I took apart the entire rear brake set and cleaned/greased them. Took it out for a test drive and there was no difference. It's possible that the previous owners put new rotors/brake shoes on it and bottom dollar'd the job as far as parts go. My neighbor seems to think it's possible the rotors are heat warped again.
Speaking of him, he took it for a test drive and verified that it's not just me. I asked him if he could tell which side/end of the car it was coming from and he said there's no way to tell as thedriver.
So the problem def. only happens at high speeds (40+) and hitting the brakes. Other than that the car drives fine and braking at slow speeds is not a problem. The tremor's litteraly shake the entire car - to the point where stuff inthe ashtray starts rattling. I'd be convinced it was cheap brakes/calipers/rotors but the problem was nonexistant prior to my wheel almost falling off. is it possible the caliper on that wheel was twisted??

If you have vibration in the steering wheel, replace the front rotors too. If not, consider replacing the other rear rotor. Even if this doesn't solve the immediate problem, you'll need to replace them sooner than later anyway.
Also check to ensure that all calipers are grabbing properly. I had an incident once where a caliper on one side was seized (different car, not the G), causing nasty vibration during braking even though rotors were ok. The obvious simple caliper check is to ensure that all rotors are nice and shiny (and super hot to the touch.. careful) following a test drive.
I also once had the violent tremors you describe in two other vehicles (Celica and RX300) when the hand brake cable(s) were beginning to seize. The difference there though was that the vibration from the rear was noticed even without braking, so I doubt that's the case here (quick check of the hand brake release on a mild slope could rule this out).
Anyway, I'm no brake expert, but a few basics in case you haven't considered any of this. good luck!

To resolve your brake issue I'd go to an independent brake/alignment shop have them go over every inch of your brake system. From what you posted the rotors aren't that old, unless you bought them at Wall Mart they shouldn't be warped. After this issues is answered never allow your wheels to be mounted/installed unless they use a torque wrench....setting is 85. This way every lug is tightened exactly the same eliminating one of the warpage possibilities....I hate impact guns especially in the hands of a bozo....

thanks for all the help guys. I should just bite the bullet and replace all the rotors, pads, etc but I'm just a tightwad
At any rate; yes, there is some slight tire wear on the inside of the front tires but nothing too major. It's going to a mechanic friend tonight to see what he thinks. Someone told me it could be the bearings but I doubt that if I don't feel it any other time. I think I'm just going to replace both rear brake assemblies and see what happens. thanks again.

Update: Well I took the car to a mechanic-friend and he seemed to agree: Just spend the money and updata all the brake components outside of the calipers.
I'm not too terribly worried about performance parts but I don't want the cheapo autozone stuff either. I thought it best to replace the rotors/pads with the equipment that came with the car. for this I went to infinitipartsusa.com
There they have this statement:
2003 Infiniti G35 Coupe Rear Brake Rotors
Infiniti recommends that you replace your rear brake rotors for your 2003 Infiniti G35 Coupe when the brake rotors are less than 26mm thick.
=======
26mm intrigued me so I went out and measure the rear rotors on mine: 14mm
Does everyone else agree that this is the proper thickness?
