Put my brakes to the test today..
I was driving through an intersection earlier today at the posted speed limit (35 mph) and the light was green for me. As I entered the intersection, some douchebag in his jacked up almighty Ford F-whatever50 truck decided to go ahead and NOT yield to me and make a left turn (from the opposite direction). I slammed on my brakes and stopped literally a couple inches before hitting him (woulda been a dead-on perfect T-bone). I looked in my rearview mirror afterwards and there wasn't a single car behind me and the light was STILL green for the direction I was traveling in... So HONESTLY... WTF was this guy thinking?? It wasn't like he was trying to beat the yellow light or beat another pack of traffic... He saw me for sure because he looked at me (and I'm sure the passenger with him made him aware of my presence because I saw her yelling) and he gunned it with the intention of trying to beat me through the intersection... Being as though I ride bikes frequently, the first rule of survival is to "assume you're invisible." I live by this rule when I ride my bike as well as when I drive my car so I always look around through an intersection even though my light is green, always avoid driving in people's blind spots, etc... however this was completely unpredictable as I was literally in the intersection when the guy decided to cut me off. What a douche bag. I would have chased him down and confronted him if I didn't have to be somewhere at a certain time... This negligence is totally inexcusable. I hate people who don't pay attention to what they're doing behind the wheel. Hate hate hate.
/end long rant
Moral of the story: I've never been in an emergency braking situation with my G until today so I was rather indifferent about my OEM brakes, but now I no longer doubt them. Brembos would have been really nice, but I love my OEMs for what they are... Until I can save up a couple grand for a nice BBK =)
So... STORY TIME! Everyone else ring in with your near-misses!

Your 06 brakes probably match the oem brembos for an one time 35-0 emergency stop like this. Hopefully you're on the oem pads which are probably the best for this situation.
