clicking noise when car is turned off

clicking noise when car is turned off

hey everybody this is really annoying me...i just notice that when i drive my car and after i get to where im at..once i turn off my car theres this clicking noise i was wondering is this normal????

Either pipes cooling off, or a stone/pebble stuck in your heat shield. That's what I had atleast.

in our 6MT's when we turn the car of the flywheel vibrates and chatters but i am not sure about your AT..

If it lasts for more than say...10 seconds...its most likely Slick's call on the pipes cooling down. As the metal cools it tends to tick for a little bit, nothing to worry about.

Yeah I normal pipe cool down. But I actually had a pebble stuck in the heat shields or wherever, and i think because the pipes were so hot they pop the rock up every 5 seconds, it was like on cue! Almost perfectly timed. I took to dealership and they got rid of the rock.

hey yea im pretty sure its the pipes cooling down...its exactly like how u said it slicksilver....i think i was jus trippin out i jus notice this happens recently

I don't know why but the last sentence you wrote made me - no clue. haha.

Anyways OP you should be fine, mine does the same and mine is parked outside and is daily'd in the winter too imagine what I hear.

I think most cars do this. My truck and fathers truck both do this as well (V8 5.4L Fords) but my mothers V6 Cherokee doesn't do it as much or as loud.

i am having the same problem with mines. when i drive my car it makes this clicking noise and when i turn it of it does it for about 3 seconds. car drives perfectly fine but the noise annoys me.

When metals get hot they expand, once they start to cool off they retract which makes that ticking sound. it's normal.
