I spoke to the dealer about installing 20 inch wheels, but they say that it will mess everything up....they state that 19's are better. Any thoughts? And why can't we put the same tire size all the way around on all four wheels?

 

245/35/20 275/30/20 will work fine

 

20's will not "mess" anything up... well maybe your wallet...
20's willl have a harsher ride than 19's, plus most of the lightweight wheels only come in 19 inch...
Go with 20's they look the best IMHO... here is a pic of my car on 20's

 

20's will make your car much slower cause they're much heavier than the stock 18's... especially chrome ones...
but they look nice!

oh and the tire sizes are staggered cause the car is rear-wheel drive: wider in the rear for better grip, skinnier in the front for easier turning

Can I put 245 30 20 on all 4 wheels? Or what would be the best configuration?

 

I run a 245 up front and a 295 in the back. Most people are going with a FAT lip in the rear which to looks the best.

Nope, no shaving... Id have to ask what offset I have, thats the big factor... AND how much you lower it.

 

i bet it handles awesome! but do u notice its a bit slower...
my accord was way slower when i went from stock chrome 16's to chrome 19's...

Do you guys think chrome is THAT much heavier?? Its not.

 

19's are expensive as hell and if you cant afford tires every 10-13k miles then dont buy 19"s. you can find 20"s cheaper along with tires. but most performance wheels only come in 19"s.

(Warning) you will be paying at least 800+ for tires for 19"s unless your running torjans! and that is at wholesale

my 20's are really not the much heavier than my old polish wheels. according to ups they were 27lbs. each in the box. i think with tires they were 50lbs. my ride is just as smooth with 20's as with my 18's maybe smoother.

 

The reason for that is because MD roads are nice vs. NYC's pot-hole infested streets.

 

No, chrome is not THAT much heavier, but the difference in unsprung rate going from 18s to 20s will be a noticeable difference.

I heard of a kid in Chicago who went to take his Civic to a dyno shop. He wanted one dyno with the stock 16's on, and one dyno with his bling bling 19's. Of course, the dyno guys knew there would be no difference in horsepower, but they obliged. When they showed him the dyno graph, he was satisified because his car wasn't "slower" with the bigger wheels. Then they showed him this:

With the stock wheels, it took 7 seconds to pull to redline. With the 19's, it took 15.5 seconds.

Is it worth it?
