POP+Ztube: My Thoughts and Questions after installation

Hey guys, as some of you may know I'm quite a new addition to the G community as I just purchased my 2006 5AT G35 OB about a month ago. So far, the only mods that I carried out in the first month were exterior mods and today I finished putting in the JWT Popcharger / Z-Tube combo - purchased from everythingg35.com.

Now, installation was pretty quick and easy, and from what the combo gets you, I felt that what has been said about the mod on these forums pretty much matched what I got after installation.

What I was taken back by was the pleasurable (More full sound imo) that followed the installation. To hear the car after this mod was really
comparable to day and night from youtube videos I had watched and soundclips I had heard. It was a nice surprise.

Now, after the excitement of the new car sound had subsided, I noticed some changes that I wasn't sure were directly related to the installation.

I noticed that
1: The sound of the car at lower RPMs was now muffled
and
2: That the sound of the cars air system would gradually increase in noise while idle.

This is sort of where I want to focus my attention right now, as I am unsure these side-effects are what the mod aims to do.

I will also keep in mind that I have been gone for a week, and these changes could be all in my head based on the fact that I had not driven the G for a week previous to the installation.

Anwyays, what are your experiences after this installation? Were you surprised with the differences you noticed? Were there any problems you came across following the installation? And are there any specific things I should look for in the maintenance and handling of the car with the mod installed?

Thanks for reading and I hope to read all your stories and suggestions.

That sound is just about worth the power loss (i'm not setting any land speed records this week)

I found that I enjoyed the trottle response I get with my z-tube/hks filter better than the Pop charger so I went with that setup.

do you mean the A/C? or just the overall intake sound?

The other thing I did, after my intake changes, was to do the "pedal reset" of the ECU. Seemed to smooth out the idle flop I had for lil bit after the install.

other than those, good on ya! enjoy the yummie sound that combo makes!

The power loss I was not aware of - this was a feeling of mine as well.

Is this just power loss at low RPMs? Or power loss all around? I feel at higher RPMs the car has more kick than it did with stock, and I would not be surprised if the combo causes lower power in lower RPMs and higher power at higher RPMs.

Can anyone confirm this?

I couldn't lock down a good answer but some threads point to hot climates contributing more to heat soak and thus the slight power drop. I'd bey you may be right about the low/high rev band, and even have a lil gain (1-2hp) if you're feeding her good cold air but I'm not fo sho.

I feel like there's some torque loss at the lower rpms but i never get tired of the sound.
