Hey all, I need some advice.

I have a 03 6mt, and I brought it in to Infiniti of Charlotte for some warranty service (a weld in my seat broke, no I'm not a fat ***) and my service guy, who drives a Camaro mind you, tells my that I need new front rotors.

Now, I only have 21,000 miles on the car and I baby the hell out of the thing. Hell, I haven't even raced anyone yet and I've had it a year.

I have no vibrations coming from the front end when I apply the brakes, and I have never had any squealing.

I'm definitly going to get a second opinion, so here's my question. Is a pair of Brembo rotors really $1300, and would they really need replacing after only 20,000 miles?

I thought the Brembo's were an upgrade, I don't want to have to replace rotors every 20,000.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

Thanks. I just got off the phone with an Infiniti place in Santa Monica and they quoted me a pair for $320 as well.

Sounds like another call to Infiniti Consumer Affairs is in order.

So....pissed....off....right....now....!

My Car: 6MT with 26k....1 1/2 years old..still has over 1/2 thickness on original brake pad...ZERO problems....your dealer service sucks.....Don't jsut turn them in...GET BACK AT THEM....ask them for a written estimate...if they wont give it then you know they are rotten...if they do...then go get one from another dealer....(let me know and I will get if for you at my dealer then FAX it to you) then take the correct estimate back to the guy at your dealer and call him out for it....

actually that is standard price at the dealerships. I have 37000 miles on mine and just got them replaced, needless to say I'll be going aftermarket on the rotors and pads from now on.. $514 per rotor.. and that was the standard price at all dealerships in the area. (Brembo's only)

Dont go to the dealers people! thats your first mistake. brembos are not covered in servce so dont even bother

when i had new pads put on at about 33K miles i had them turn the rotors just in case.. but if they have to be replaced i would go to TireRack and buy some slotted Brembos for $373 (i think that's the price).

Damm that sucks man.. Dont they cover rotors and brake pags under warranty?? Someone posted that they took it in for squeaking and they replaced the rotors for free!! Also baumer your car is low as hell LOL!!

Nope, only the non-Brembo brakes are covered under the warranty.

I say that if it's not covered under warranty....don't have the Infiniti dealer do the service.
DId you not notice all the fat sales guys in suits...the leather chairs in the waiting area with the coffee....all the nice tile floors and halogen lighting for the glossy brochures...?????
How do you think they pay for all that overhead????

Ohh Brembo's, i guess i misread LOL!!!! $1300@!>>!>!?!?!?! Wow, you can get slotted and drilled for like 700-800, damm. What does it take to get the non brembo oem rotors replaced?

haha.. yeah, the car is low now but part of it is that the ground is sloping up where i parked.

the non-brembo brakes should simply be covered the infiniti warranty. the service manager should know about this. i would definitely get the brembo replacement rotors from tirerack. last time i priced them out i think they were $373 per pair.
