My new Front Plate holder bracket (pic)

I dunno about the rest of you but i hate the way the way my plate bolts into the front bumber so after a recent accident (not done by me) and a new bumber i put that little plug for the hole back in and made my own bracket.

PLat not sits lower and its a bit less noticeable.

No front plate and I don't put it on the dash. Had my car since Feb. No hassles so far.

Re: My new Front Plate holder bracket (pic)

i've got the most stealth front bracket of all... it's only been a few days but it seems NYPD doesn't care as much as i thought they would... i have passed by multiple cops and nobody seems to mind (despite the car being red)

Stillen sells this option for running a front plate. Good solution to drilling holes.

Whats your bracket look like? That looks like a pretty ingenious way of mounting it. Too bad I've already put the holes in my bumper.

Re: My new Front Plate holder bracket (pic)

I made 2 L shaped brackets... drilled holes in them and mounted to the bottom of the bumper.

No holes were drilled in the bumper...and the plate nor the brackets will ever scratch the bumper since i put strips of foam on it. You cant see them unless you pull the plate away with force.

Re: My new Front Plate holder bracket (pic)

I didnt wanna go with STILLEN bracket...nor with anything that looked like it or mounted the same way. I wanted to mount the plate as low as possible so i can reveal more of a bumper.

Besides my bracket costed me 1/3 if not less then what the stillen or any other bracket out there costs.
PS - mine is primed ....black ... and clearcoated so no rust or discoloration.

Re: My new Front Plate holder bracket (pic)

looks like the plate is lower than the bottom of the bumper?

so, if you go up or down steep driveways, that license will just break off.

if your car is lowered or you plan on lowering your can, then that license plate will definitely break off sooner or later.

"I refuse to get holes in my bumper and placed the plate on my dash"

FYI - I don't know about other states, but I know in IL that it has to be mounted to the front. Putting it in the front windshielf doesn't satisfy the requirement. So if the cop wanted to he could still give you a ticket (unless the law is differently where you are). Also, in IL it's a non-moving violation to not have a front plate, so it's basically equivalent to a parking ticket. Therefore, I don't mind too much if I get this ticket (I've only had it once with my old car).

Re: My new Front Plate holder bracket (pic)

Yes its slightly lower. May be 1inch. I wanted to mount it as low as possible.

I did go up steep driveways and the plate never touches...i even drive on messed up NYC road with potholes and dips and still yet to even come close to hit the plate.

If i do lower the car in the future i still will not have any problems. the car will bottom out sooner then the plate will.
