Do the work yourself. Tranny and differential fluid changes are just about the simplest possible things you could do on your car and you'll save enough cash by doing it yourself to more than make up for the cost of buying any tools that you might need but don't already own.

A few important hints:

1) Always, Always, ALWAYS, remove your filler hole plug before removing the drain plug on the tranny or differential. The reason for this is so that you won't remove the drain plug first, drain all the fluid, and then find out that you can't get the filler plug off.... and you're SOL because you have no fluid in your tranny/diff now and can't drive it.

2) Buy a handheld cheapo fluid pump so that you can pump the fluid into the filler hole on your tranny/diff. It makes it a lot easier than trying to pour it in or snake long hoses up through your car to allow gravity to feed it in.

3) Don't overtorque your drain/filler hole plug bolts when putting them back in.

4) Remember to put the washer back on before putting the drain/filler plug bolts in.

5) Clean all debris from the drain plugs before putting them back in, and make sure the threads are perfectly clean.

Have you seen my videos on these procedures? They are very easy to do at home.

Well it depends on which video you are looking at. For example, the automatic transmission service only applies to the automatics, however, the clutch fluid service video only applies to the MT models.

I took the videos off youtube a long time ago. They are all on infinitihelp.com but you can find them listed all on the Sedan section even though they apply to coupes & sedans. Check the link in my signature.

UPDATE!

I did the tranny fluid flush. Clutch shifts much smoother and properly but it still ginds (but very rarely now) switching into 2nd and 3rd.

Same here. Fluids changed, still grinding above 4K RPM shifting to 3rd. I guess I will get the synchros changed. Any ballpark figure on how much it would cost? Also, does the new 3-piece synchros fit the old trans?
