CD player problem

I cannot find anything like this in the search. It is not like the problems people have had where the player jams. It just skips through each cd trying to play it then skips to the next one. No error messages, nothing. They are the same CDs ive had in there for a while, i did not change anything recently. At first I thought it was one CD not reading, but it just skips to the next one, says "CD2-1" and nothing else, sits there for 30 seconds then moves to the next.

Has anyone had this issue??? Im getting sick of these $10000 car issues on my 35K car.

Thanks for any help.

Re: CD player problem

Call the dealer and tell them you need a new player because it's being screwy, try to ask for a non-refurbished one (they will probably say they get whatever the factory sends them). I've never heard of this problem specifically, but at least you can get the discs out before it goes to get replaced.

About the 35K car, I have a friend with an sl500 who has to take it to the dealer all the time and another friend with a bmw who has had tons of stuff replaced. The cd player on an infiniti isn't 10,000, but the electrical system on a bmw is a lot closer to that. There's even a member on this board who had 3 out of 4 of his bmw's in the shop at the same time all for electrical problems.

I think (and not saying that you are) that the people who complain about this car and the $$ they paid for it have never had a more expensive car than this.

Re: CD player problem

i have this problem also. its quirky though, usually happens 1 or 2 times a month. but when it starts it does it for the whole day, like 3-4 times a day. and then the next day, it will be fine. i usually try to eject the cartridge, turn it off and then turn it back on and put the cartidge back in. sometimes it works.

the problem with taking it to the dealer, it doesnt happen all the time. so if i take it to the dealer and tell them about it, if it doesnt act up right then and there, i go down in the dealers eyes as some whiney deucebag.

Re: CD player problem

You don't neccesarily need to replicate the problem for the techs (as with other problems), you should tell them that it's tempermental. I assume they won't think you're lying (why would you?) and will take your word for it (as they should) and order a new one. The reason you don't need to replicate it is they aren't allowed to touch it anyways. They are only allowed to remove the unit and then have to send it in. When I took my car in they didn't even look in the car. They just said oh it's saying cd error, yea sorry about that we'll order you a new one.

Re: CD player problem

Count me in as well for this issue. At first I though it was because it was a home created CD, but then I notice that it did it also on legit CDs.

Re: CD player problem

I think its some loose wires or something
coz when I accerlate the left sound will go out...then when i break hard it would come back to normal....so weird
but it also might be just the cd player part is loose coz when i do the radio is fine...haven't tried the tape yet...

Thats why im considering to get a aftermarket headunit

I've never heard this, my car is a 2003 and over a year old and they're doing it under warranty.
