Alright so my driver side window motor is finally dying. The passenger side has been bad for almost a year. Seriously, this is the most retarded thing about our cars. So I say F*** it.. I want manual roll up windows. no joke. I'll have awesome weight savings and I'll never have to worry about my windows going down by themselves when it's raining outside.

ok... maybe i'll just suck it up and drop $300+ for some new motors

you don't have to slam the door... although that may work. if you bang on the area around the speaker housing (near the motor) a few times you should be able to get it to crawl back up or down.

and I think Autozone or Kragen has re manufactured motors for about $125 and I believe they give you a lifetime warranty on the part only. (not labor)

If there were such a thing as roll up windows for our cars the conversion would probably cost you more than the next two sets of window motors. Good find Sammy....^....can't beat lifetime warrantys!

it's a lot of work to take it apart.. so many bolts i'd rather just replace them for the peace of mind that its not gonna crap out again in a few months

Do the window motor clean.... ^^ use that link up there.
It looks like a lot of work, but Ive done mine twice over the past 2 years
and after I do the cleaning it works better then new! It only takes like 30 mins
and is not hard work. It will save you around 200 so why not?

It's still worth a try.

First time i did it, put it together and worked great. The second time I did it
was a week ago, put it all together and it didn't work at all. Took it back apart,
messed with it a little more, put it together and it worked amazingly. Just
have to be persistent my friend! Your money though..

it's the build-up of carbon inside the motor and the contact points. Cleaning it means you'll have to sand it as well. As with sanding, it's a possibility that some contact area were missed which is the reason why it doesn't work all the time. A blow gun or a can of compressed air helps too.
