DIY: FRONT BUIMPER REMOVAL w/ PICS !!!!
TOOLS YOU NEED:
- 10mm socket
- Philips screw driver
- flat head screw driver
PICS:
- Pics show what you need to remove as well as location of tabs.
WHAT TO DO:
- Open the hood.
- On the grill you will see 4 PLASTIC clips (thumb tack looking) Plus 2 (1 on each side of the grill) on that hold the bumper to body.
- Using a flat head screw driver POP UP the center of the clip and pull them out.
- If you look through UPPER LEFT / RIGHT hand corner of the grill (Very corner when your hood is open) You will see what appears to be a SQUARE looking plastic clip. Using a flat head screw driver put it into a slit and turn it 45 degrees to make sure that the SQUARE CLIP is lined up with a SQUARE hole.
- If you look through the hole where the HOOD latch is, you will notice that the grill is attached to the bumper via a couple of clips. ***NOTE*** I found that sometime if you pull the grill with some force, the grill should come out since the clips that mount into the bumper will give out and come out on their own(WILL NOT brake that is). I didnt want to chance it, so i reached in and squeezed the tabs....should be 4 total. The grill pretty much came on its own at that time.
- Pop out the ORANGE side markers and take out the wire harness (both sides
- On the bottom of the bumper you will notice that it is attached with 10 bolts. These bolts are 10mm Undo them all. Keep in mind you will need to encrew 10 bolts that are in front of the plastic lip (closest to the front)
- Get in the car... and turn the steering wheel all the way to one side.
- You will need to take out 3 plastic clips (same as on the upper grill) as well as the bolt that hold the plastic shield to the fender.
- Very carefully pry the Splash shield back and reach in and at the top of the bumper where it comes tgether with the fender there should be 2 bolts holding it in place. Its a tight space so you oull back the bumper as well outwards... but not to much so that the paint doesnt crack/spiderweb.
- DO the same for the other side
- Pull bumper towards you.
- ***NOTICE*** For some of you based on how the front plate is mounted you might need to remove that as well.

hopefully the mods will make it into a sticky.... Cause i did another write up on brakes... and it never got stickied. oh well i tried.
I'm not putting anything on. I had my front replaced to to hit and run...and i did it myself, so a few people been asking me to give them how to, so instead of writting it out all the time for each person, i just made it a post.

good job, but you actually dont need to do whats in pic 3 and 4, unless you want to seperate the grill from the bumper.

Unless you know someone at the dealer that can get you the stuff for wholesale price...its gonna be pretty expensive. Plus you will need a body shop to paint it.
I ended up paying my body shop for the bumper and paint...and picked up all the stuff and did it myself.
for a new front bumper and paint it cost me 450. Paint was matched pretty close to original... unless you look really close... you wont be able to tell if it was a new part or ever repainted.
****FEW thing to know.... if you do get a whole new BUMPER or the SPLASH shield on the bottom of the engine, you will need to take your existing one off... and REMOVE ALL MOUNTING HARDWARE from the current one as well as the new mounting hardware from the current bumper.
I only paid the body shop to paint and get me the bumper, i did all the other work myself. I had to reshape some metal brackets to its original shape since they were bent as well as readjust the fender and the lights. I think it came out much better then any body shop would have done.

you right buts its a bit easier to separate things as you go.
PS-- it amazes me how mods jump right up faq this. you'd think they would want to expand the DIY section... but i guess they dont really care. after oding 2 DIY guides without even seeing them in a FAQ section... i'll stop here and save myself the time to support this board.
