Dealer Auctions

Anyone ever bought a G from a dealer auction? We have a family friend who is a dealer and can get us into auctions. Are they really have much cheaper? Any info on them would be great (yes I know I've searched online for info about them, just wanted to hear from you all )

I looked at getting a car at the auction over the summer.. And could never find the right deal or the right car ( I was very particular with what I wanted).. From what I saw the range of g35’s definitely vary between anywhere from 13-22k depending on year, and also if its manual or auto, and of course mileage.. Dealer auctions are huge, I went to the Manheim one in Atlanta and they sell tons of cars.. they go so fast and there are soo many different cars that go through there… They are legit cars that go through auctions through Manheim, but they have a very good reputation.. I also had cash in hand to buy one so it would’ve saved a lot of money on my part especially if you are thinking about going through a dealer. I looked for about 3 months at the auctions every week and my friend couldn’t get a deal that I was looking for.

The bad:
You really don’t know what your getting into outside a vin number.. A history report on carfax is all you can know about the car
You wont be able to drive the car until after you buy it

My advice:
-Know exactly what you want
-Exactly what you will pay
-def go through a reputable auction
-def get an inspection through the auction.. If its reputable they will inspect the car on the spot for like a 100 bucks if you buy it, and will fix anything that they find.
-And def be patient!! g35’s go through there every week and there is always another day.
I was not patient enough and didn’t end up getting one through the auction.. I got a great deal here on these boards :-)
- I would shoot for a g35 that still ahs factory warranty
-winter is the time to get to those auctions and finding one, dealers will only go for cars customers want.. g35 coupe is not the most popular car to have on the lot in the winter.
- good luck beating out other dealers.. they know g35 manuals will sell for top dollar, and they will go to top dollar to buy the car..

Depending on the type of auction, it is my understanding that cars that go to the auctions are not good enough to be on a dealer's sales floor, for different reasons. You only get to look at the car, you don't get to drive it. Unless you are a mechanic or at least knowledgeable about car mechanics and are willing to make repairs yourself, yo may end up spending much more money in repairs later.

I disapprove all of the above, me myself am the co-owner of a dealer (my parents are the real owners am the successor lol ) and i recently got my G at the auction www.manheim.com of course you wont be able to do anything because you not register back to topic, not all cars at the auctions are "bad" or "rebuilt" or w.e people say people talk alot of **** because they dont know nothing there are many reason cars are passed by the auction, the main reason me and my dad run the cars thru the auction is because sometimes you buy a car and no one wants it, and u got 10K invested on a car thats been sitting there and u go ahead and pass it again thru the auction and u recover your money. also sometimes is what i like to call trade-in money, lets say Nicole came to my dealer and gave me 2001 nissan altima and i valued her car at $1,000 the next day i get that car on the tow truck to the auto auction and lets say it gets $1,500
boom i sell it, and i made a little extra profit... and yea sometimes its just piece of crap whats selling there but hey thats why you gotta go early and test the cars and also when buying you gotta make sure its a "Green Light" what your buying.
Defenition of "Green Light" : The car is under warranty by the aution which means you can send it to arbitration and have the mechanics check it if its bad they will refund ur money)

Good Luck

Yeah see I'm looking for a manual G35 coupe. No preference in color or options, just has to be 6mt and clean title, under 90k miles. At an auction, once the car is bought, would I need to pay taxes (I live in California), because I know in places like Nevada in private party sales there is no sales tax.

No one would PM you a password and log in because with that info you could do many many things 13-14K is a nice budget you have to know that the auction is a crazy place, one day a car would pass by 10K then the next day the SAME car could go for 12K all depends on the day ehhehe trust me u gotta be lucky but yea that money is good i got mine 03 Ivory Pearl for 8K with 98K miles the car is perfect but it was scratched all over on purpose by an angry girlfriend so it seem liked to i had to spend 1K on the body shop black leather Automatic tho but yea.

and i duno over there but down here in FL you do have to pay taxes lol

Yeah lol sorry I just found that out, I changed my question around. WOW I am actually looking for an IP 6mt (not picky on color or options/extras, but preferably). Besides the scratches, how do you like the car at 98k miles? Btw appreciate the help

at 98K miles the car is not bad..all depends on who was the previous owner... for example my recent car 05 Acura TL has 143K miles i know u must be like "WOW" but my TL is wayyyyyy better on the inside than the G35, all comes down on who had the car before it comes to you, the G35 has some scratches on the door handles wich i allready took that part out wet sand it and painted it with paint thats special for interior window tints were damaged had to remove them you know its regular "used car" things motor and tranny are perfect

But as far as electrical things (window motors, radio, A/C) it's all good? Very nice buy btw, IP in my opinion is the best color

Is there any way you could post listings of G35's in the so-cal area auctions? Not the password and username haha but just the listings and prices so I can have an idea? Hope I'm not troubling you too much :/
