and now my service engine soon came on. is this normal at 6000 miles or did the test pipes cause them. will this cause any harm to my car, as with honda's, when the check engine light comes on the vtec will not engage? also it counds pretty crappy. will it sounds better when it breaks in or when i install the rest of my exhaust which is the injen one?

 

The test pipes most likely set off your check engine light.
That happened to me, and I took my car to auto zone and they hooked up the small reader to it. Code as for the catz (or lack of). The guy resetted the coded and I havent had a problem since. The rasp will not go away, so get used to it.

I have the Borla exhaust with the XERD test pipe's non resonated, and not an ounce or drop of rasp!! The test pipes gave me great gains, and made the exhaust so much deeper, no complaints here also no check engine light!! Get it checked out, and with an aftermarket free flowing exhaust it will prob sound a lot better. Martin

hey thanks for the response guys. i will definitly have to check out xerd if i still dont like the sound with the injen exhaust. how much are the xerd test pipes? also tgalvez, how much did autozone charge you?

 

I got the XERD pipes for $179 from my tuner shop, but they are like $189, about the same as kinetix!! Definitely try it out with your new exhaust, and if it still is raspy go for XERD, its such a deep tone and muscular sounding, no ricey rasp or tingy sound. No check engine lights either =)
