Affordability?
Affordability?
Quick question, I currently drive a 1993 Lexus Gs300 thats getting up there in miles and I'm getting a bit tired of the car. I want something newer and sportier that would fit my driving habits better. Between the 350z and the G35 i chose the G35 due to the luxury of the vehicle and the reviews that i have read so far on it. My question is, what is a ball park price for a Black/Black/Manual/w, w/o nav, and with or without the sports package that comes with the brembo breaks.
Also what payments will look like for about a 10,000 downpayment.
Lastly Insurance, I understand there is a big variation in insurance so i will try to give you as much info as i can.
Southern California/ 0 accidents, 1 points, my older brother will be the person with the title of the car and will be insured to him so age is 30.
LASTLY, are there any known problems for the first year G35 or is there any particular year i should get. THANKS.

Re: Affordability?
As for the price of a g35 with the options you're talking about. Go to www.infiniti.com and build your own. You can see a worst case scenario from the price they will give you. Since you don't seem to be too picky, you will have the luxury of going to multiple infiniti dealers and comparing/haggling the price. Brembo's come standard on the 6mt (correct me if I'm wrong), so worst case 33k (bare bones 6mt), chances are you will get it between 30-34k depending on the options you actually end up getting.
As for payments with a 10,000 downpayment, again, go to infiniti.com and use their payment calculator. A 20,000 loan can look pretty ugly if you're trying to pay it off in 2 years, APR will be <6%, don't forget you can negotiate that as well. Also, don't forget taxes on a new car (if applicable), I had to pay about $1,800.
The best way to estimate your insurance is to go to your insurance company and ask for one. It takes them a second to pop it in the computer and give you a ballpark. However, here is a thread going over that right now.

Known problems, yep. Browse around the board for an hour and you will find common compliants of cd players going bad, rear axles ticking, windows acting funny, and brakes & tires going to quickly. Brembo brakes are not covered at all (non-brembo's are now covered until 36K) nor are tires; the rest are all covered until 4year/60K warranty. Don't forget that this car will cost you more to upkeep if you want to keep the performance high. For instance, the stock tires are 2-300 a piece and only last about 20,000 miles. You can get longer lasting tires, but then you lose some of the capable performance of the car. Hope this helps,
Nate

Re: Affordability?
wow jmai22, isn't LexAristo gonna be sad to hear that u're in the market for a G and letting go of ur GS?
if u gonna get a G35, i'd wait for the '05. with 10,000 down, i think u shud be lookin at around $500+ for payment.
since u're in the SoCal area, i dont think u'll have much chance of getting anything off ur purchase.
