Gas tank lid, easy to open?

I recently had an ex rant and rave all over her facebook how she's going to pour oil into my gas tank to **** with my car (yes i screenshotted it), so every night I've periodically checked my gas tank and my tires.

I went out tonight and my gas tank was open, not blatantly open but it wasnt locked in place like it should have been, I was wondering how easy it is to open our gas tanks while the car is locked (thus locking the gas tank lid). I took a flashlight and see no signs of forced entry but I know I havent filled up my gas for the last week and I checked my gas tank this morning and last night by pressing on it to make sure it wasnt open etc.

The thing that boggles me is, I was able to push the gas lid shut while the car was still locked, so why didnt these people do that so I had no idea? Anyway the fact is it was opened, and I'm wodnering if they didnt use some sort of tool to push down the locking mechanism?

Now I have to figure out how to see if anything irregular is in my gas tank..

I would put my car in the garage but like hell my parents are going to put their porsches outside, we live in a nice neighborhood etc but what can you do, ex's.

I have an 06 g35 coupe.

Yeah I cant open it either, Im guessin they used something to mess with the locking lever in the gas tanks, I dont see any indents or signs of forced entry, but the gas tank lid doesnt just open on its own.. specially when I know it was locked shut. I'm not sure how to tell but my gas nozzle was pretty slippery when I touched it.. but that could be gasoline, even tho its been a week?

Wow, that is soo messed up. I can only imagine how infuriated I would be if someone even touched the gas cap, let alone possible poured something down the tank. This is what I would do.

1. Flush Gas Tank.
2. Fill back up with gas and act like it never happened.
3. Set security cameras around your car at night and see if she comes back.

Odds are, if she sees you driving like nothing happened, she will come back.

On a side note. Why do women always go for the car?

Because we love our cars more than them.

The car was locked, hence the gas lid was locked. A hard credit card will work? Dang I didnt even know there were locking gas caps.

Can I flush it myself, or is it best to take it somewhere?

the door itself is not difficult to open. there is only a small, plastic actuator that holds the door shut while the car is locked. a pocket screwdriver or any stiff object will pop it right open without any real visible damage. i would second that you get a locking cap
