Break-in period questions. (search engine sucks)
Break-in period questions. (search engine sucks)
just a quick q. is it really necessary to keep the G at 4000 or lower rpms for the first 1200 miles? ive been babying my 2 week old 5at but sometimes I just cant resist, goin around turns at up to maybe 5k rpms. also under 70 mph and varying the rpms frequently is important?
p.s.- does anybody have custom clear mats? anyplace have em cheap or maybe at dealerships?

I tell ya what - I got my G35c 2 weeks ago as well, and I have not been able to keep it under 4K. I've gone all the way up to 6K(by accident in manual mode). I'm not too worried about it...it does say to vary the rpm ranges, and that's exactly what I'm doing. I few higher rpm runs aren't going to effect the engine or any of it's components negatively.
That's at least what I think.

That's not a picture of a G.
You can rev high during break-in without any long-term effects but your gears, brakes, tires, and suspension also break in with your engine. You don't have to baby the car; just drive it how you normally drive, but don't go over 4K rpm, don't do full throttle acceleration (even if it's full throttle up to 4K, that's still a no-no) and don't do any emergency braking unless you have to.
If you plan to keep the car for more than 50K miles (or 4 years), your best bet is to break it in properly.
