Help!!!!
Ok i have a 2003 coupe 6mt with about 90,000 miles on it. The other day i pulled up at a light and this squealing, grinding, scretching started coming from the engine. Like a idot i drove the car a couple of days and then one day the car starts stalling when i push the clutch in and the rpms go down, and then it threw a check engine code. I took the ac belt off and then tighted the alt belt really tight and then looser. None of this works and i dont understand why the car stalls too, is this two seperate problems or one? I just dont understand the noise to, it sounds horrible, sounds like a alternator but my lights and everything are not dimming or anything??? please help..
As for the screeching noise, dialing in the exact amount of tension on those belts can be a pain. It can't be too loose and can't be too tight.
And for the check engine light...pull the codes, it'll help pinpoint the problem area.
timing is real critical so use a watch or a timer with a second hand to help
1. turn ignition on(don't crank the engine)
2. count 3 seconds
3. step on the gas pedal 5 times in 5 seconds
4. wait 7 seconds
5. step on the gas pedal till the CEL starts blinking.
From there the first long blink is the indicator blink followed by a series of short blinks with short pauses in the middle.
FOR EXAMPLE...
1 long blink - pause - 6 short blinks - 6 short blinks.
that indicate you have a P0166 code. If you have multiple codes -
FOR EXAMPLE...
1 long blink - pause - 6 short blinks - 6 short blinks - pause - 1 long blink -pause 7 short blinks - pause - 2 short blinks.
that would indicate you have 2 codes, P0166 and P0172.
