did any one hear of this or tried it yet?
iphone has a viper alarm app that locks, unlocks, and starts your car.
Of coarse you need to install the applicable alarm to the car.
Yeah, the iPhone is mow a remote for the car.

That was a very good question. i looked into it. This is what I found on the Viper web site:
New Application Features Coming Soon!
Vehicle personalization; adds capability to customize your application with a picture of your own car(s).
Password protection; adds capability to lock the SmartStart app separately in case you let others use your phone.
*************Push notification; adds security system triggered messaging (when installed with compatible security/remote start systems), confirmation of message receipt by SmartStart system, and more.

I was thinking of getting this, but I came to the conclusion that aside from the "cool" factor, it's pretty much useless. You can already do all of the fuctions with your alarm fob. Sure it isn't restricted to a 1 mile distance, but how often do you need to start your car from a city away? Lol. Besides, taking your phone out of your pocket, unlocking it, starting the app, and tapping the button for whatever function seems like it would take longer than taking your key fob out and pushing a button. Just my opinion....
