05 6MT G35 > 3.8 6MT Genesis > 2.0T 5AT Genesis

The G35 and 3.8 Genesis are close

.
That's exactly the position I was in.

I do like the look of the G35 better. Plus I hate to say it, but infiniti is just a cooler car to have than a Hyundai. Most people are going to say 'but it's a hyundai' regardless of the build quality.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the 3.8L model genesis is out of your price range anyways.
Ya but I got some pull at the dealership and they can get me a 3.8 L for around 32,000 all in.

I however have a question.

I am in the market for a new car and have a budget of around 30k to 33k Canadian to spend all in for a car. Now in my searching I have been able to find a couple G35's 06 6MT and under 50,000 k for around 28k to 33k. The other day I was talking to a BMW dealership because my mom's car was in for maintenance and they suggested the new Hyundai Genesis Coupe. New to the market and apparently trying to get into the G35, BMW 3 series type market.

My question to you guys, warranty and all into consideration. Would you buy a brand new Hyundai Genesis Coupe (3.8 L V6) compared to a use 06 or 07 low km coupe? Please note that both of these options are really pushing the limit of my budget and if there is a cheaper alternative I'm willing to hear it.

Thanks in advance for your answers.
You can get a much better deal than 28k to 33k! Here are 2 Canadian model 6MTs in Scarborough for $24k. They had a nice black one last week but it`s gone now.

It`s a Nissan dealer.

Whether they deserve it or not - Hyundais depreciate like crazy. Their quality has gone up dramatically - but not the perception. The market still prices used Hyundais very poorly.

I would buy a new Genesis Coupe over a used G35. Similar performance, decent ride, similar styling but Genesis has a way more comfy seat.

well, it took hyundai up to 2010 to produce a car that is comparable up to our Gs, which has been around what? 7 years?

but still, i heard the genesis coupe with good reviews. i wanted the genesis sedan when looking around for a new car. the interior just looked soo nice.

but of course, i bought a G35, never happier.

Hyundai's now there's a real POS, they were the first auto maker to offer 100K mile warrantys because they couldn't give their junk away. How they're designed has imporved but by how much, sorry I just a soon drive a Ford....and I really dislike those too!

Thanks for all the information guys really appreciate it. I read the whole thread about the genesis coupe and have decided to go with the G35. With around 30k will I be able to find a low mileage coupe 06 or 07 with warranty with that much?

Thanks again!

+1, to those who say "wait" a few years because the Hyundai is a new generation platform. I have been driving for ~25 years, and owned nearly as many cars, and getting in on the bleeding edge of a new platform can be very troublesome. If you have lots of time to sit at the dealership for multiple frivolous warranty repairs, then maybe it is worth the gamble...

The manual transmission of the Genesis Coupe seems to have many problems and complaints. I would certainly wait.

Hyundai has bought back a few to investigate.
