Help please- major clunking ?!
This started 2 days ago. Every time I accelerate, i hear a clunking noise coming from either the left or right wheel well , or under the hood. Im taking it to the dealers next week . But can anyone pinpoint this as well to bring me a little peace of mind, would really appreciate it.
No , maybe around 500 , i read around and i heard for each the left and right compression rod are 150 $ , my tech at infiniti might go easy on me for labor
i take my car only to him.

Well i got it fixed at Tustin INFINITI for $ 350
250 for the parts and 100 for labor, and it was the compression rods
so if you hear clunking or popping noises , thats it
Thanks "D

it's not random, very consistent...thought it was the tires, had the tire store put on new ones...but the noise is still there.....it's intermittent thumping....like there's a bald spot...but the alightment is good, steering is steady....anyone have any ideas?
hmmm , hard call . if you have connections at the dealers or auto shop, ahve them check it out, but if its a clunking , like metal on metal, my best bet is compression rods
I've got 22k miles on my coupe. I'm getting fairly random pops from the front driver wheel well. It sounds like striking metal on metal and mostly happens when turning into parking spots and a lot more when turning into a driveway (incline). It's pretty loud and I can feel a twang from the steering wheel when it happens. Is this the notorious compression rod failure? Is there a way to quiet it down with WD-40 or the like? It's really annoying and I won't be able to make it to the dealership for another week or so.
thanks

Just got my car back from the dealership and I'm hearing a popping noise too.. They just changed my transmission and now this problem?? It sounds like I ran over something or something metal is dropping to the ground... Helppp
Nissan Issued a new and revised Compression Rod Bushing. The previous versions were prone to premature cracking / wear & tear.
Originally, the TSB said to replace BOTH rod and bushing. But it was too expensive for Corporate so now, it's only replaced with the revised bushing.
