creaking noise

When I go over sharp bumps, I hear a creaking sound from the center dash. I think it's just a result of the plastic center console. If I rub my finger across it with some pressure, it creaks. Is this typical? My old sentra didn't have any creaks after 3 years. My G is a month old.

Re: creaking noise

Check the mirror. There's a little plastic piece that covers the wires, it can rattle and its hard to identify the location.

I have a nasty rattle/creak in my instrument cluster when it's been sitting in the sun. Dealership tried to take care of it but it's still there. Annoying for sure...

Re: creaking noise

Just had my G in for the same thing. The tech uninstalled my center console and radio and reinstalled it. He also took my glove box out in tighten that up. Now if only he can get the back rear from making a "tinny" vibration sound. Long story dealer had my car for 6 days, picked it up drove it a couple of miles heard a rattle in the back (that was supposed to be fixed) took it back to the dealer(same morning) and the service tech went out with me. It took a few miles for the "tinny" rattle to come back in the rear. The tech said he took the entire back apart before and tighten every nut and bolt he could find and did not hear this rattle until he came for ride with me. He was very apologetic, I told him no problem I rather have it fixed. Not always easy fixing rattles that don't always make noise. Long story sorry! Anyway I pick it up tomorrow. I will let you know!

Sounds pretty bad that I have been driving a loaner(sedan) for over a week but I have enjoyed the ride in the sedan. Nice car!

DJ,
next time you hear the rattle from the cluster, put your finger on the clear plastic around the upper left hand side. I had the same rattle and stuff a little rubber band up in there (between the dome and clear plastic) and the noise went away.

Re: creaking noise

My driver seat has started to creak like crazy. I happens right were the electric seat controls meet the center console.

Re: creaking noise

my drivers seat creaks / squeaks like crazy and i have rattles in both doors that certain frequencies from the stereo bring about. its obvious where infiniti cut corners to keep the price low in the G. the interior layout and ergonomics i'm completely happy with. the fit and "tightness" of the interior is completely Nissan. my 5 year old Audi was void of any squeaks or rattles. my G has 1500 miles and its driving me nuts, but maybe i've been spoiled.

still love the car overall, the rattles suck however

Re: creaking noise

i'm taking my coupe in next week for a rattle in the rear. I think it's by the speaker. It rattles with the radio and over bumps. The dealer said that i have to leave it with them so that they can remove the back where the speaker is and install insulation under there. As anyone done this?

Re: creaking noise

I have a little "squeak" coming from my rear view (with homelink). I've tried the cable bit I think it's the buttons rattling when the bass hits from my stereo. It annoys me to no end.

I've also started to notice my headliner creaking a bit, especially when turning...also annoying.

Re: creaking noise

When I asked them to fix my mirror rattle, they also made it *super* tight, so it doesn't shake as much with the bass. It can still buzz a little now and then when it's been in the sun, but it's overall pretty good.

Re: creaking noise

i didn't even think that this would be a "warranty" deal, but thanks for pointing it out. I'll have Infiniti tighten mine up the next time I go in.

Re: creaking noise

Maybe I'm really lucky, but at almost 20k miles I have no creak except for the slightly loud noise when I open the sun roof...

I'm surprised that the car still feels solid because I drive on these hellish LA streets where uneven pavement and potholes seem like they are put here on purpose by incompetant city workers...
