'07 6spd tranny in an '03
'07 6spd tranny in an '03
About to replace my '03 transmission. Not interested in rebuilding. I've found a few '07 transmissions for decent prices, and was wondering if anyone could tell me if the '07 will bolt right into an '03...
I've heard rumor that the '08 g37 tranny won't work, so I'm just looking for the newest transmission possible to put into my car.
So has anyone done this, and if so, were there any other modifications needed?
Thanks for any guidance.

BUMP for this. I'm interested as well. I have the famous 03 third gear grind and i'd rather just buy a g37 tranny then to search though the different revisions of the 05-06 since there the same price.
reading up on the vq37vhr...seems like all they really did was modifiy the head and change the stroke. The gear ratios on the 6speed mt on both the g35 and g37 seem the same.
Anyone if know if they use a different adapter plate or something?

The gears are definately shorter on the G37.
Also, the G37 6mt gearbox is hard to drive slow...
My bro actually prefers my 35 coupe 6MT over his 37 6MT for regular city driving.
Just a thought...

Thats why it made me think there basically the same transmission. But the g37 manual is more refined.

Not true, as the years progressed the transmissions were updated with more synchros in each gear.
