I still don't think it's bad to PC forged wheels.

Why do a lot of forged wheel companies powder coat their own wheels?

It doesn't effect the wheels in any way. I've talked to powder coaters about it and forged wheel manufactures. I personally spoke with the sales rep for MHT and I've email Rays and DPE.

To my understanding it is bad to powdercoat cast wheels because the heat from the baking process could crack the wheel at its weak spots (usually around the lug nut area). However forged wheels are stronger and can resist the heat.

OP, the front emblem is marginal, however the rear one and the wheels actually look really good. And if you have to stare at it when you walk away because you love the way it looks, then +1FTW for you

The powder coating process requires the wheels to be baked at a temperature that weakens the integrity of the wheel. I'm not saying that if you powder coat forged that you will definitely have issues, but it increases the probability. Lots of people have powdercoated forged wheels with no problems, but that doesn't mean they're supposed to be.

Volk (Rays) paints their wheels.

Like I said, plenty of guys have done it without any issues. And you probably won't have any, either. Just putting it out there.

Powder coating a wheel is done around 350-400 degrees.

Forging a wheel, 700+ degrees.

Sick avatar Calvin lol

There is a few sets of gram lights that are PC'd but I wasn't really saying Rays pc their wheels, I just asked if it was safe to do so, he assured me it was fine and would not change the integrity of the wheel.

Haha, I'm not really meaning to argue. I use to have the same opinion until I started to plan on PCing my track wheels. Then I got nervous and decided to ask around.

BTW, Rays has by far the best and fastest customer service in the industry. For being a company with less than 300 employees they're on the ball!
