Buying a salvage G35.

New to the forum here a great big community ). I am looking on purchasing a salvage G35 coupe for around 7k-9k with miles from 40k-90k. I have seen several and most cost around $9k and you can haggle the price down to at least $7k.

Whatever you do, just make sure the damage that caused it to get totalled wasn't frame damage. If you can find something that was just totalled because of body work and doesn't have a bent frame then you aren't going to compromise the safety and reliability of the car as much.

go back to grammar school to learn how to spell.. anyways I have no other comments on your situation. If I were you, I would get a 300zx TT for the same price or something not salvaged but I'll let the experts help you out.

last year I got a 2004 G35 coupe 6 speed for 10k. It was never in accident it was a recovered car cause it was stolen. Lock was replaced only problem was that there were a bit of scratches where the lock is cause it was replaced. But I will paint it soon when I have the time. You can probably get an automatic 2003 for 8-10k. I think manual is a bit more cause its rarer but I would suggest to get manual it will be worth it.

I would say save more money. You don't need the car right now, you already drive a ballin' 5 series. Wait and save up $8000-$10000 and finance a $15k car. It will be well worth it and can save you a lot of headache.

Don't rush the search, as soon as you settle for one car and buy it, the perfect car will pop up for sale.

^^^+1 I was in the same boat as you a few years ago, I wanted to buy a real Nissan Skyline GTS-T, but i realized that it wouldn't be reliable and would cost me my life to fix if anything broke. I know its not exactly the same thing, but in the long run, its best to save up some real cash, then buy a car, and try not to finance it, your 16 right now, buy something when your 18 for your high school grad or something.

If you already have 4.5 k right now, you can easily have 12-14 by then. + running and insuring a car is expensive, don't settle, cause once you have one, its hard to upgrade etc. Drive your parents cars around - its cheaper cause they never make you pay for gas and theres no upkeep.

Just my 2 Cents, In the end I just bought myself a 05 coupe with low low miles and mint condition fully loaded

I'd consider one if I knew the damage was just cosmetic. But since the OP hasn't detailed the damage or explained his skill in repairing, I'd say he's in over his head and could quite possibly end up with a busted up G for his $7k investment.

THIS

I drove my parent's cars forever (it seemed) while I saved up and searched for just the right car and then paid cash for my 2006 6MT with 17K miles, fully loaded.

And then the twin turbo kit... and so much more Actually buying the car is just the beginning of the money spending with a G35

don't buy anything salvaged. its only going to cause more problems in the end. there is a reason it was totalled! not being mean just saying this cause i totalled my is300 and got one of these. just not worth it to rebuild something and have no actual value

I think it would be rare and even highly unlikely a salvage would only have cosmetic damage. It's when you get into frame and suspension damage that it starts cost big $$$ - unless it's a recovery from flood, which I would completely stay away from.
If you have suspension or frame damage that has not been repaired properly, you're putting your life on the line... you don't have to be in an accident for it to fail on you....
