Any one heard of painted parts from the Factory?
Any one heard of painted parts from the Factory?
I commited the ultimate sin when I bought my G. I found damage on it the night I did the paperwork. I wanted to back out and just wait on an order. Instead the dealer "assured" me whole heartedly that they would return the car to it's original condition. I found a fingernail size scratch on the rim and a puncture hole in the plastic rear bumper above the license plate. This is probably from idiot sales people whom don't know how to drive stick. Anyway that was over two months ago. They ordered the parts which took forever ( I still haven't recieve my new rim), and about two weeks ago they replaced the bumper.
Well it looks like crap. I did not pay $35k for a car to have the clear coat not match the rest of the paint in certain light and to find little pinholes in the paint as well. This is a result of pathetic work by infiniti low rate body shop. I have only owned my car for a couple of months and it has already spent almost two weeks getting repaired. GRRR... My question is this. I have called several dealerships and Infiniti Corporate and they have all told me the same thing. I cannot get a factory painted (quality) bumper from Infiniti. They can only ship the part here primered. Does anyone know of anoher way? Or am stuck bringing back my baby over and over again till this crappy autobody place does it right. Thanks.

I would tell the dealer that you're completely unsatisified with the work and that you want a body shop of your choosing to do it. Threaten to sue them / have the car returned under Lemon Laws as an alternative, they will probably authorize another shop to do the work.
Then shop around, find the shop in your area that does the best work (and if possible, is the most expensive!), have them fix every single solitary thing you can find and more, and have them send the bill to the dealership!
My car was spotless when I took delivery of it, but it came from the factory without Aero - the dealer had a kit in stock and they installed it. It looks just like factory, I couldn't tell the difference - BUT, they told me that the spoiler came painted from the factory... I mention that, of course, to let you know that certain parts DO come painted, regardless of what your dealer is telling you.

Re: Any one heard of painted parts from the Factory?
I had a similar problem with a 300ZX back in 90. Once I got it home I noticed a scratch in the windshield. I got the dealer to replace the windshield, but while in the shop we notized the paint was starting to crack on the hood, roof, and tail. It was sent to a bodyshop for repainting, but did not match the rest of the car. Bottomline, after 2 months of fighting with the dealer, they "took" it back and I bought a different new car.
Stick with it. Keep fighting with the dealer until it is fixed right. It's their responsibility to make sure your car is "new".

Thanks Guys. This has been such a nightmare I haven't even been able to fully enjoy my car. I am taking in on monday to have the wheel replaced and the bumper redone too. So I guess its another week of driver the Loaner G35 Sedan, He He.
