Hey you guys my dad has a 2004 CLK320. Now I only know its a V6 220 HP but for me it feels fast, because I drive an old POS truck. How will the G feel driving in comparison. Also in the CLK everytime I punch it there is a slight pause and it sounds like the engine is winding, then BOOM about 3 seconds after, the thing takes off. Is the G like that?

 

The CLK is a mule compared to the G. The 0-60 time on MB's website is 7.4 sec while the Auto G will do it around 6 sec. You'll notice a huge difference.

the g has good low end torque. even if youre revs are not up in the powerband, it still has some decent pick up.

the winding up you are refering to is prolly the automatic finding a lower gear and the engine reving a bit while doing that.

I test drove a CLK when looking for my new car and bought a G. No comparison.

The CLK is an overweight pig. The handling difference is night and day. Seriously. The CLK isn't even in the same class. Nice interior, but more of a sporty lux car than a lux sports car.

That was my take, your milage may vary.

 

the clk is a much plusher ride, very smooth, you dont feel any bumps.

I chose the g35 over the clk because it's 10 grand cheaper and its faster.

both great looking cars...a clk looks good on 20s if that's your style.

I don't like the new CLK it looks way too much like the C class I really though it was a C class coupe when I first saw it. But I like anything with a AMG bagde on it though everything else from benz can go in the trash.

I''ve been driving the 2004 CLK320 about past three weeks since i came to hawaii..... here's my comparison...
Exterior=G is better
Interior=CLK320
performance=of course G
Brakes=both about the same..
others like road noise, suspension,=CLK320

*both G35 coupe auto and CLK320 pause about 2-3 seconds before takes off..
*sound system is about the same...

clk 500 is a fast ****!!! smoked my G35...sorry to say, but there is a big price diffrence!!!
