yes.. yes you are lol.. j/k well the thing is that the 18 inch wheal package came with more than just the wheels which made it an even better deal... on the other hand though, the tires for the 18"s will be more expensive to replace... and if you live in cold weather they're virtually unusable i hear....

Re: 17 inches wheels = crap?
if you're concerned about looks, then 17s aren't the way to go. I know nothing of the stock rims, but there is a lot of discussion regarding 17s in the proper weight, size, and strength category being better performers than 18s. It's due to weight of the wheel and the tire. These are obviously very general comments.

Yes, 18" wheel package was a steal for only $650 for a 03'. You also get LSD " Limited Slip Differential". the Michelins tires alone is worth $600 more than the 17" goodyears. Also when it come to resale value, you will definitely get more with the 18"s guaranteed. Peace.

Re: 17 inches wheels = crap?
i have the 17's on my BS coupe and i am very happy with the look (considering they are 17s) this is my everyday driver so i need reliable rims/tires for the winters...BUT im upgrading next spring to 19's anyway so i figured ill stay with the 17s and have them for the crap winters in NYC and then ill have aftermarket 19s for the spring/summers =)

Re: 17 inches wheels = crap?
I have the 17's and prefer the softer ride to the 18's. Also remember one thing.. As the wheels get larger, the distance between the outside of your tire and your rim get shorter. Thus, it becomes fairly easy to damage your rims from the road, car washes, curbs, etc.. Just my thought. I do understand they handle better. However, here in Florida, everything is so flat, What handling could there be?

Yes, DJNooch has the same idea as me. I started with the 17's. Maybe I'm different but I acutally do like the center console being black too since it matches everything well. You don't get that when you get the 18's - its the aluminum look. Plus I live in D.C. where we don't get much snow but I have may have to drive in 1 inch and slush, ice. Since the 17's come with A/S tires I figure I'll keep this setup through the winter and come spring time I'll get a new set of wheels and tires and then come winter, I'll just swap on my 17's.
For me, it didnt make sense to get 18's when come winter time I would need an entire new setup and still have to keep the stock 18's. This way I can keep my 17's as a winter setup and get some aftermarket ones later on. If you're going to get aftermarket, economically it would make sense to get the 17's to start and put those on in the winter if you're in a cold climate area.

Re: 17 inches wheels = crap?
Holding weight and traction due to contact patch constant, the 17's will actually be faster due to the weight being closer to the axis.
However, I believe the limited slip diff only came with the 18" wheel package. Both can be rectified aftermarket. The LSD (a better one than Infiniti's) can be had for under a grand, and the Infiniti OEM 18" can be had for under a grand, with pretty good tires on them even.
