Yeah ^ (good call)

I mean the 4Runner is a great car! Like the 4Runner super reliable, i can put a TON of miles on it and it will be fine and everything and you guys are right, it is more practical considering im only 17 and will be needing a bigger car prob in the next few years (College, moving, etc )

But i figure once i got a family im going to follow in my dads footsteps and get a (family SUV) like a new Lexus RX (which recently got stolen ) so for now i should get a nice car i can have fun it. AND I WANT TO GO FASTT! (And roll up looking good) Nothing aggravates me more than when im driving in my moms suburban and i look at the guy next to me in his Z or Mazda and i haul and they beat me..

And i mean c'mon, the G is just a sexy car

Im going to show themm...

Driving a nice car doesn't really prove anything.... get it because you want it, not just to show off.

Heh... it's really not that fast of a car. The weight kills it.

Drive safe!

No offence, but I get a chuckle at the people here that say RWD + Snow = Bad. Driving a RWD G in the snow is just fine providing you have proper winter rubber. IT"S ALL ABOUT THE TIRES!!!!!!!!!!!

To the OP, you would be fine taking a G to Tahoe if you had winter rubber, but since you will only be going there a couple times a year, snow tires don't really make sense. Why not just buy a G (if that's really the car you want) and then rent an AWD vehicle of some sort the few times you go to Tahoe?

That's what I said 4 posts into this thread, and it still seems like good advice!

That depends what mods you get, but i'm assuming you'll be doing minor mods such as an aftermarket intake, plenum spacer and an exhaust. Those won't make much of a difference in terms of speed.... it'll probably feel about 5% faster after those mods. If you want to make the car significantly faster, you'll need to go forced induction with a supercharger or a turbo kit, and then you're looking at about $8-10K to do it right. Seeing as you're just getting the car now(as opposed to already owning it), and if speed is your primary desire... I'd just get a different car that is faster right out the gate, such as a used Vette(probably way out of your price range), 4th Gen Camaro(LS1 Motor), a used Pontiac GTO(LS2 motor with big power), a Subaru WRX STI, or one of those factory supercharged SVT Mustangs. Neither of those cars is as nice as a G35 Coupe in terms of looks(opinion) or interior, but they'll all be significantly faster than a G35 Coupe(even one with the mods I talked about) and all of those ones I mentioned that are V8's have a menacing motor sound if you put the right exhaust on them.

The G35 Coupe is a good compromise car... it's good looking(and in a mature way, as opposed to a boy-racer way), decently quick, somewhat luxurious inside and handles well. It's definitely not something to buy for flat out power/speed though.

I see another accident waiting to happen.

17 and trying to race people in a suburban? These are the kids that i laugh at constantly in traffic.

Listen, drop the cool guy race attitude before you lose your license or hurt somebody. Also, from all of us that drive sports cars: knock that stupid racing crap off when you are next to us.

I drive my g35 coupe manual6 up in Toronto so you should be fine with winter tires however. If you have summer or even all season tires then I hope you have a very understanding insurance company.

I would never ever drive my coupe in snow with summer tires, that is the fastest way to die IMO.

Speak of the devil.... I was coming home from Boston tonight and it was snowing pretty heavily out and on the highway I came across a person in an OB-Colored G35 Coupe driving about 8-10 MPH on the highway in snow and sliding all over the place. There was a good 2 inches of loose snow on the highwway, and everyone else was going about 25-45 MPH, and the person in the G35's mere presence on the road was an absolute deathtrap to everyone else because we all had to hit our brakes when we came up to him and then navigate around him by driving out of the packed tire trenches.

That's something to keep in mind too. Sure you might be able to get your G35 Coupe to move through snow without hitting things, but if you're driving 20 MPH slower than everyone else safely is, you are running a good chance of getting rear-ended by other people who can't stop or slow down in time or making them skid out of control when everyone has to hit their brakes, causing a potential chain reaction crash/skid hazard.

OP, please listen to what I am saying. Im 20, and I had friends with the exact same attitude you have right now. Dont get the G to impress ppl and to race ppl at lights. You will not be happy no matter what you do to the car.

Another thing is, when you pull up to a light, and you the see the guy in the other lane looking at your car he is not trying to race you (unless he is a moron and start reving and giving you signals), they are simply admiring your car.

Takee it easy, relax, enjoy the car for it is, dont speed.

When ppl like you speed and get speeding tickets, get into accidents, our insurence rates go up and young ppl like me who work hard to pay for insurence, gas and to buy a nice car cant because we cant afford to do it.

Please, get the car, take care of it, mod it the way you like,do your maintenance, take to a local track and push it to the limit, keep it mellow on the streets.

I know I sound like a lamo but thats the reality.

Good luck.
